Pushing back hard turned out to have been a big mistake. In response, Lizza has released a partial transcript of his interview, showing that Rubios aides comments werent as bad as depicted. They were worse. Heres an excerpt:
Ryan Lizza: Well, their argument is, what, that they have American workers for these jobs, they dont need this program.
Rubio Aide 1: Yeah. I mean, one of the problems you have with this, Oh theres American workers who are unemployed. There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, cant cut it. There shouldnt be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just cant get it, cant do it, dont want to do it. [etc., etc.] .
Rubio Aide 2: But the same is true for the high-skilled workers.

I think the biggest crutch Rubio and the Gang of 8 has is the continued support of Rubio's career that Rush and Levin continue to give him.
Rubio is on the wrong side of this.
If Rush and Mark are supporting him, so are they.
No offense Rush, but it’s that simple.
FUMR!!
(sigh)....may as well start getting into practice....
“U.S. Senator Alan Grayson”
Limbaugh is NOT acting apathetic.
If Rubio somehow manages to get the nomination in 2016, I predict that there will be an unending barrage of sound clips with that line playing in pivotal voting markets like West Virginia, Virginia, eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
Even Joe Biden could beat a doofus like that. Rubio might do marginally better in states with large Hispanic populations. He could actually win 35% of their votes instead of 30%. Maybe enough to flip Florida, but not Colorado, New Mexico or even Nevada.
Although he doesn't support the bill, its Levin that continues to apologize for Rubio, and thats disappointing. Levin could really deliver a thrashing to Rubio if he chose.
And Hannity - forget about it. He'll never be able to break the liplock on Rubio's arse.
Not possible. Grayson lost 65-35 in his congressional district, one that probably leans slightly Dem (Obama won it both times). He then cherry picked a strongly left leaning Democrat district to run in last time. One where he could buy the primary and have no chance of losing the general. He got his place in Congress back, but he’s got zero ability to win state-wide.
Shorter Rubio aide: Theres a reason unemployed Americans are unemployed. They arent star performers. Screw em. Were bringing in workers from abroad!
Rubio is now El Tostado to conservatives.
We are still waiting for you to admit you were wrong about rubio. What’s it gonna be? Every day rubio proves to us that his amigos come before Americans and your silence is getting very hard to take.
Rubio the Ridiculous.
What a disappointment.
Glenn Beck calls Rubio ‘Senator Dirtbag’. LOL
“Citizens of the World “ (West Wing staffers) lay their claim.......this is some of what Rubio and others are up against.
The White House on Wednesday stepped up its campaign for immigration reform with a video of ‘West Wing staffers ‘...talking about their immigrant roots, ......
but it was immediately slammed by YouTube viewers as a whitewash of the issue of illegals pouring over the southern border.
“The White House as a Melting Pot,”..... headlines the special webpage for the video.... “The United States is a nation of immigrants..... And the White House, like nearly every other American office, is full of staffers whose stories started in countries all over the world.
Video:
I think it is high time that Rush and Levin personally trash Rubio. They don’t have to say mean or angry things, all they have to say is “I cannot support Senator Rubio’s Senate Re-election or Presidential Nomination in 2016, and he will no longer be interviewed on my show”. That is all they have to say. They were duped by Rubio, he betrayed their trust, and he needs to suffer the simple practical consequences.
As it currently stands, this immigration bill could pass, and in 2016 Rubio could be getting support from Levin and Limbaugh for the GOP presidential nomination or his Senate primary. That should not happen.
Rubio is dead to me, but not specifically because of these statements, but because of his association with the gang of eight and his pro-amnesty stance. Nevertheless, I don’t disagree with the statement. Too many Americans are lazy, unskilled/poorly educated, and don’t want to work.
You'd think that would be enough to really p*ss them off.
