Edward Snowden, America's most wanted whistle-blower, participated in a live online chat with the Guardian newspaper on Monday.

"All I can say right now is the US Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me," Snowden wrote. "Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped."

"The reality is this: if an NSA, FBI, CIA, DIA, etc analyst has access to query raw SIGINT databases, they can enter and get results for anything they want. Phone number, email, user id, cell phone handset id (IMEI), and so on—it's all the same," Snowden replied.

yes the story is about him, not about the database where this information is stored. Information on every single American citizen.

Snowden comes across as a naive, and foolish young man. However, he has done us all a service by blowing the lid on this for whatever reasons. PRISM and the programs associaetd with it are establishing an hugely obtrusive Federal surveillance of all American citizens. What was billed to be directed only at ISlamic terrorists...we could "trust them," on that, has turned into a massive program that by default gathers info on us all.

And, it is leading to much more dredible sources regarding what is going on stepping forward.

I don’t understand why Cheney, for example, is so eager to call this guy a traitor.

All he released is “metadata”: information about the information.

Any decent spy from another country would already behave as if every phone was bugged, wouldn’t they?

Cheney, if he really believes in the program, committed a HUGE political error IMO.

By stamping the imprimateur of the Dark Lord on this, he has virtually compelled every Democrat to vote yea on the Rand Paul “Repeal the NSA” bill.

Also he way overreached by claiming the NSA program “could have prevented 9-11”. That falls into the category of what Don Rumsfeld used to call “unknown unknowables”.

I’m conflicted on this whole thing, as I’m sure many FReepers are.. Snowden bashes intelligence that is justifiable, yet he uses a lot of Constitutional verbiage that shows he’s well informed as to our government by “rule of law and not men”.. Hmmmm.. We’ll see where this goes.
