A series of behind-the-scenes mistakes by educators in a Florida school district led to childrens biometric information being culled without their parents permission, TheLedger.com reported.
In May, parents of students in the Polk County School District received a letter stating a pilot program would track bus riders using each childs iris.
Parents could opt out, but by the time they learned about the program, the company charged with gathering the information had already captured images of about 750 childrens eyes.

I’m just looking forward to the Precrime Unit.
Imagine their surprise when the name of one of the kids comes up as “Yakamoto”.
“Welcome back Mr. Yakamoto.”
Interesting flick. I haven’t seen it in a long time. Maybe it’s time to watch it again.
The administrators and school board directors for this school district need a wake up call and be attacked on two fronts. The obvious is on privacy. They should be sued. Second, they need to raked over the coals for wasting money on hideous technology. Kids have been riding on buses since there have been buses. Since when do their identities need to be checked to get on a bus? It is a pure waste of money on a non-existent problem.
The parents have surrendered and turned their kids over to the government. What’s the big deal with giving the government the kid’s eye scans?
"And, oh by the way, we also took DNA samples. It's for YOUR protection. (cough)."
One day they will take DNA from everybody right after birth for ‘statistical’ reasons and ‘they will NEVER use it for any other purpose’
mistakes?
Those were not mistakes, those were done on purpose
Lemme get this straight. A wealthy terrorist with knowledge of bio scanners or robotics is going to swap out little Billy at the bus stop with an imposter just to get a free ride to school. Am I right? What do I win!?!
Or is this Big Brother on steroids?

They already do this.
Read the article. Most states don’t give you the option of ‘opting out’, the DNA is kept indefinitely (the sample, not the test results), and it’s used for ‘research purposes’ of unknown design.
If you TRY to opt out of it you get the threat of a quick visit from social services. Ask me how I know this.
