I’m not up to date with what’s happened in Iraq under this guy’s influence. No doubt he’s working for the Iranians.
I suspect that having to choose between Shiites or Sunnis, I’d fair better with the Shiites.
I can’t find any down side to his involvement in Syria at this point.
Can somebody straighten me out on this?
You wouldn’t fair better with any side...one, you are not a local Sunni or Shia - and two, unless you are a Moslem - you’d end up in a pit and set on fire at a minimum.
This guy is like Hitler, but in cleric stature. Sadr’s family has a long line of dealing with Saddam and trying to outflank and over power the Sunni influence in Iraq ever since Saddam came into power - Saddam’s response was always swift and violent.
If Sadr is involving his militia members inside Syria - it will be bloody and will spiral in different directions. This is a guy in a position, more so now than back in 2003-04, to do some serious damage in the region. He’s very cautious in what he does since the face-to-face with Blackwater in Najaf in 2004.
I wrote about all this in length - see my signature line - I was the SME on this whole affair from 2005 - 2009. I still get called upon to fill in the inter-chages every once in awhile — except this administration doesn’t care much about Iraq at the moment — it should - it should be looking at it closely! It could be the up and coming Pre-Afghanistan that we dealt with in 2002!
