I voted for Romney because his was the only name on the ballot that had a prayer in defeating Nobama. The primary system in this country is more of a joke than voting in Russia. By the time we get to vote in Texas all the better candidates are GOP’ed out by the purple states who get to vote first. It is a broken system and until rectified we will always get a loser on the ticket.
I agree with you, whole-heartedly. In Minnesota, we never have a selection or a chance to vote for the person.
If we all voted at the same time, our votes would all count.
If we only allowed closed primaries, then we would not have the cross-contamination that allows the Lindsey Grahams of the world to be re-elected “comfortably.”
We need to reform the election system, tighten the controls so our votes are not diluted, and then have some serious primary challenges.
The votes need to be verifiable, countable, re-countable, and saveable in a form that all people could see and evaluate.
So the solution is to stop playing the game. Broken systems will never be fixed when it benefits the two parties. And people still keep the brokenness going. Force the change.
