Their are political elites who for lack of a better term are assholes. No wait. That is exactly the term............
History shows that granting legal status is not without profound and substantial costs to American workers.

It seems like both parties are pimping for the Hispanics.
Rubio, to get his people out of the shadows with dignity he thinks. The democrats looking for future voters since they see they already have the AA voter.
Everyone, remember where he lives...so we can send him a card.
Just another snake oil salesman.
No biggie. Just more lesser evil for us to swallow. Sit up straight and chew properly folks.
Or stop voting for it. Your choice.
take away their welfare checks and other forms of assistance, and you will see those who “can’t cut it” change over night into productive citizens, eager to earn their next meal.
The ever rising minimum wage also eliminated all the chicken shit shoveling jobs.
I’ll take the flames, but Rubio is right.
All of you throwing brickbats would agree with him if the discussion were about our society or about the ignorant voting electorate, instead of about immigration.
This nation has an underclass of uneducated, largely illiterate, and lazy people living off the government dole.
Rubio has his own 47%.
Absolutely.
You tell the truth.
And very few of those of whom you speak are hispanic.
OK send all the illegals home, let the labor market adjust for a year and then bring them back as needed to fill jobs that are still available (and that they can do).
Assume it is true. Is it his job to help Americans, or to brush them aside to help others, and thereby make the situation worse for those Americans who “can’t cut it”?
This is the most elitist thing I have heard of a major politician saying since Harry Reid spoke with disgust about the American tourists who flock to Washington for inspiration (he said they smell). This is much, much worse than the “clinging to guns and religion” comment of Obama.
And so the right thing to do is to replace the American people with someone else?
Somehow, I don't think that's the group he's referring to.
The context suggests he's referring to people who want jobs, but can't perform them adequately. "They can't cut it."
The welfare class doesn't want jobs. They don't even try to "cut it".
The real problem is that everybody, but the American worker, is in on the act of receiving entitlements, including businesses.
Too many businesses don’t want to train, but they also don’t want to pay the American worker enough so that he can pay for his own training.
There are American workers who, for lack of a better term, cant cut it. There shouldnt be a presumption that every American worker is a star performer. There are people who just cant get it, cant do it, dont want to do it. And so you cant obviously discuss that publicly. Marco Rubio.
Nothing wrong with that statement.
Too bad he said it in the context of immigration.
How many times must it be repeated...You can have open borders or you can have welfare but you cannot have both.
I vote no welfare for anybody whether legal or not. This country was built by people who either worked or starved.
What a dumbass. Hey Marco, what do you think would happen if these other countries would just lay open their borders to American workers?
Dipshit. As a Floridian, I promise you will not make it out of the next primary.
Illegals totally dislocated the labor markets and businesses received a “smuggler’s profit” by hiring them. The constant refrain “they’re great workers that never complain” is a truism because if they complained they could be chased out of a job. So they were abused, and underpaid by businesses. These same people say that blacks don’t want those jobs, but two things: #1) They will take those jobs and #2) the wages are lower than normal because illegals will take less to do the jobs.
American is getting abused.
How does Obama serve the 50% black unemployed in our inner cities by letting in 12 million illegals. Our unemployment rate is horrible and why should we penalize ourselves in this lopsided bill to help those who willingly broke the law. This makes no sense - and why is there such a rush?
It is all politics.
