Tomorrow begins the second week of jury selection in Florida v. Zimmerman, and we here at Legal Insurrection will once again be following the process on an all-day, live coverage basis. Well host a live stream of the courtroom and a rolling Twitter feed of selected tweeters throughout the day, post about the more important breaking events as they occur, and provide an end-of-day wrap-up each evening, in the same manner as last week.
In preparation for the the Courts return to session tomorrow morning, I though it might be useful to provide a brief recap of the more notable events of the prior week so that we can all start off Monday morning on the same page.
Day One: Monday, June 10
Denial of Defense Motion for Continuance
The Courts first day of jury selection began with a last, final motion from the defense for a continuation. They based their request on the fact that the State had only days before delivered them a large corpus of new discovery materials including thousands of pictures, the States own expert witnesses had not yet completed their discovery obligations, and that they had not yet had an opportunity to depose Benjamin Crump, as ordered by the 5th District Court of Appeals, and would need additional time to both conduct that deposition and follow-up on its revelations. The Court denied the motion peremptorily. It is noteworthy that the denial of a continuance reasonably requested, especially in as serious a case as a murder trial, is frequently found on appeal to be an abuse of the trial courts discretion, and grounds for reversal of conviction.
The Jury Pool
A pool of 100 prospective jurors completed questionnaires which were then screened separately by the Court, the State, and the defense.....

Zimmerman will be lucky to get a hung jury. The order has come from DC,via Tallahassee,to hang that racist cracker.
Now if I can just do what SloJo Biden said. “Buy a shotgun, Sarge, buy a shotgun...”
This week begins the real Voir Dire when the questions get get more pointed regarding the law and the evidence. Let’s see how many times Bernie misstates the law and the evidence and gets away with it.
Atleast he has a good seat.
Maybe the conductor will let him blow the whistle a few times.
That is one ugly, fat liberal Judge. She along with Angela Corey should be disbarred and put in prison.
Expect more of this from Benjamin Crump:
“The larger issue is the precedent that a potential acquittal of George Zimmerman would set. It would show how far this country still has to go with respect to offering equal protection under the law regardless of race. If Zimmerman gets off, it will tell other deranged minds and trigger-happy police officers that they can kill black and brown boys with impunity.”
Keep in mind liberal judges USUALLY favor the defendant. However we are seeing ugly days in America.

keep in mind in fl judges are elected and gov. appointed from a list of insiders provided by the FL bar.
Those appointed tend to be past prosecutors. (ala fed judges)
Judges have a reputation in fl of being an extra prosecutor.
More to the point, it will tell them that they can get away with denying his people's right to attack with impunity those who diss them. IMHO, there would be far less outrage if Zimmerman had shot a law-abiding person for no reason. The real reason for the outrage is not that people believe Trayvon Martin was shot for no reason, but rather because they know what Martin did to get himself shot, but chafe at the idea that there's anything wrong with it.
ty for the info.
