In other words, trampling the First & Second Amendments, obliterating the Fourth Amendment, and Tyrannically using the Sixteenth Amendment to persecute political enemies. Republicans will simply turn the tables on their political enemies once they gain power in the Executive branch. Is that all the change we can expect?
Unless a bold statesman with true classical liberal beliefs is elected in 2016, such as a Rand Paul or Sarah Palin, nothing will change for the better, and indeed things will get even worse. If a Democrat or even some establishment Republican wins, we will all be slaves (or wards) of an all-seeing, all-hearing, all-knowing Big Brother.
And the Terrorists will have won, because our open society will have been replaced by a paranoid, hysterical, Tyrannical Police State. Even if not one more American ever dies in a terrorist attack, we will have lost just as certainly as if someone nuked a major city. Worse, even.
The only thing we can all do at this point is resist, to the utmost of our abilities and in every way possible, and try to prepare our countrymen, as well as future generations, to resist similarly.
Going forward, I'm convinced that our own government will probably kill more of us in the coming years than all foreign terrorists combined.
Freedom will become a distant dream, a virtual myth. But myths do retain great power, Freedom (I believe) moreso than any other force in the Universe. And perhaps, some day, there will be enough of us who are willing to sacrifice our blood and prosperity, that Liberty might once again walk the Earth.
I'm not despairing; I'm just being practical and realistic. We each need to stand up from our keyboards, stop talking about resistance, and start practicing it. The price will be blood, property, privacy, comfort, loved ones, friends, and, for many of us, life itself.
And my tagline will cease being merely a joke from a vintage BBC television series...
The problem with your exhortation is that I am a big wuss, a simpering pussbunny that is terribly easy to spook; and if I am startled, I end up under the table in the fetal position, trembling, my mouth wide open in a silent scream and my eyes wide in terror, covered by cold sweat and usually lying in a puddle of my own sick.
