Well, except for blackmailing judges in important cases.
And blackmailing prosecutors in important cases.
And the whole miasma of insider trading and petty political blackmail of legislators.
Other than that, I’m sure it’s all just fine!
Is any of that news?
It has been so since before the US was founded.
The Constitution does not provide Utopia, it just gives us a better shot at fighting Gov abuse.
There is no such thing as benign GOVERNANCE.
By definition we subscribe at some level to be governed.
The genius of the constitution is that it places the power with the PEOPLE.
The fly in the ointment is that the People are often incapable of agreeing what is for dinner, let alone serious matters.
It is all a balancing act.
Freedom is in fact, a very messy thing.
