Earth to jsanders, the Left doesn't give a crap about the poor, they use their bogus claims about caring for the poor to gain power. Power is all they care about. They don't want the competition from churches, because they diminish the demand for state control.
The day may come when they need assistance themselves when their government fails them. Only desperate times will make them come to their senses.
