Forgive a possibly stupid question from someone who grew up in a state which doesn’t respect the 2nd amendment:
What is “stand-off capability”?
I guess the guy is questioning why IRS agents need to be able to kill tax scofflaws at 300-600 yards, but AR's kill pretty good up close, too, so there's that.
In 'military parlance', it is the ability to attack your target or enemy where their weapons cannot reach you as their attacker. Or in other words, their weapons are out of range.
