I thought about the plastic bag just as I hit post.
Too late. If you are on a spiritual quest gotta get on while the getting on still has daylight....
Still, the plastic bag would have made a nice carrier...for more freaking bags!@!!!
Which would have made a nice barrier to the weather and ground in my little shelter that was stuffed with ground cover and the roof burdened by about three feet of more ground cover.
Oh well. Would have to make a bigger fire without it.
Exhausting...
I took my daughter and two of her friends into the deep woods one weekend.
They wanted to build a survival shelter and sleep in it. They had a tent and sleeping bags as backup.
After a few morning classes they set to work. Took them most of the afternoon - got dark - after hanging around the fire and the temp dropping to 30 deg two opted for the tent - one tried the shelter and 30 minutes later was in the tent.
I tried to pound home “The best way to survive a survival situation is not place yourself in one.”
My survival Butt Pack is about 6x5x4 with two 1/2 liter water bottles. Has everything on our two lists and a few more goodies. They were surprised at just how comfortable a camp you could set up with just that.
