Fleeing the communists, my f-in-l arrived here in the 70’s from Cuba with 26 cents and no contacts. He learned English, went through the naturalization system legally, and eventually built a 500-employee business. (My wife was 15 at the time.)
However, there are gobs of hard-working illegals in this country, being exploited by crooked business people. Because of their culture, they don’t see what they’re doing as wrong. You know how the idea of “legality” is slippery in Latin America.
If business suits started getting arrested and welfare started getting cut off, they’d shrug their shoulders and self-deport. As it is, the Chamber of Commerce (and others) are bribing Congress like mad monkeys, even as we sit here typing away.
That’s why fighting this thing is like pissing in the wind. Without matching the millions of dollars in bribes pouring into Washington, the anti-amnesty crowd is as much as disenfranchised.
Every dog has his day. Every squirrel find an acorn, if a blind pig leads the way. George Washington lost more battle than he won.
