The Senate voted yesterday to move forward on the Gang of Eight’s immigration plan—which would grant amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants.
Insanity is often defined as doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result. As Heritage’s David Inserra points out, “Instead of new ideas, the current bill is essentially just recycling the flawed and failed ideas of the past.”
Remember, once amnesty is granted it can never be taken away. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) took to the Senate floor yesterday to outline several reasons why we may be asking for a mulligan on this amnesty proposal.
With this bill, the American people are being sold a product. They’re being asked to accept legalization. And in exchange, they’d be assured through this legislation that the laws are going to be enforced. But this “product” contains all sorts of hidden agendas and faulty promises, with no guarantees that the promises will come true once the amnesty is in place.
“The Obama Administration has pushed the envelope by waiving welfare laws,” Grassley reminded the Senate, so why should we assume the Administration wouldn’t do it again? “The reality check for the American people is that there are loopholes and the potential for public benefits to go to those who are legalized under the bill.”
The danger of putting too many things in one bill is that you end up having to pass it to see what’s in it. But we know one thing: Amnesty for illegal immigrants is the first order of business.
We’ve tried it before, and it didn’t work. This is the wrong way to address a serious issue with trillions in taxpayer dollars at stake.
Then there's the semi-secret spy center under construction in the Utah hinterlands that will crawl into our lives beginning this fall. They completely ignore this most important act that is truly aimed at dissenting Americans to go forward without comment.
This entire government is rotten to the core.
When one considers the hundreds of thousands of Americans killed in wars to free other nations and think about their deaths to protect the 'Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave' then see the parade of nincompoops their deaths empowered it makes one want to puke their guts out! Consider what now sits pompously in the White Hut and those who play their complicit roles in Congress....they died for this; for these? They died so a phony nobody hellbent on killing America could be elected and reelected to destroy that which they believed they were fighting and dying?
Memorial Day doesn't mean a damn thing to this nation any longer!
Granting themselves immunity? Oops .. sorry ... they already have that.

Good, because I agree with every word. We’re in a hell of a fix these days.
Technically the Senate is correct.
This money ceased to belong to us after we allowed the IRS (this central socialist government’s NKVD) to mug us and extort a large portion of our wages. This, then, is handed over to this evil government who flushes most of it down the toilet never to be seen or legitimately used forever.
They use it, for example, to build a mammoth communications spy center, mostly in secret, in the Utah desert. There are so many examples of the squandering of that extorted money that it should make Americans rise up in revolt against these revolting developments.
I wish to add one thing to your prescient piece too, not only are we getting the scum from elsewhere, unskilled and under motivated, we are paying their way once they get here. This fact virtually sets my hair on fire on this issue as my predecessors arrived here and either supported themselves or were taken care of by their sponsors who were not the taxpayers of the country but relatives, friends, or employers.
With all these problems and misdeeds and scandals coming out the past few months Obama needs a legacy win badly right now and many traitors in the GOP appear ready to hand it to him.
Hispanics will give Obama all the credit for this if it passes and will just assume (correctly) that the GOP is just selling out to business who want more potential workers.
Am too old to rise up here. I’ll be one of the first to be gone when the rise up comes.
As if this were limited to this mythological "11 million."
Funny how that number has remained static for more than a decade, as thousands more have continued to stream across our unsecured borders daily.
Last time they pulled this nonsense the number was three times what they promised.
Figure on at least 33 million availing themselves of this amnesty should it take effect.
And remember this, once they've done it, they will again draw in ten times that number.
Ready for the next wave, which will almost certainly be equal to our current population?
Hey, China and India have hundreds of millions to spare!
Why wouldn't they come, secure in the knowledge that American sovereignty and the rule of law are a dead letter?
His legacy may be the strategically located centers of detention for dissenting Americans. We are the ‘trouble’ he sees with Americans who refuse to share his diseased mind’s view of what this nation should be.
But back to his legacy he’ll leave for the legions of happy socialists to remember him by:

This is what legions of young Americans have died for. To have a repulsive, evil, phony nobody sit in the oval office like the pompous ass he truly is and work diligently towards the ruination of our nation and our lives.

If we wish to leave our nation and take up residency in a developed country we have to have money and sign an agreement that we will NEVER attempt to obtain government aid.

Assuming when you apply for entry into another country for residence there, they accept it. Unless you have a skill, they don’t want people who just wish to retire elsewhere. My skill days are passed but my wife will be my VISA enabler!

During the Late Unpleasantness, the town of Natchez, Mississippi had a guard group know as the "Silver Grays" for obvious reasons. Anyone capable of shouldering a rifle will have a part to play in the next civil war as well.
