The long-running news show formerly helmed by Jim Lehrer will make its first major layoffs in nearly 20 years, The New York Times reported Tuesday.
The company will close its offices in San Francisco and Denver, and eliminate some of its production positions at its Washington, D.C. headquarters. "The PBS Newshour's" executive producer said that the program hoped to "build new relationships with a variety of locally based freelance video journalists around the country."
"A steady drop in corporate revenue" contributed to the program's decision to cut back.

Once upon a time, this was The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour.
Then the PC bullsh*t got so bad that MacNeil quit.

Was that the reason? I remember I enjoyed the show when it was still the M-H Newshour, one of the few things I liked about PBS (Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, The American Experience, Mystery! and Masterpiece Theatre, plus some of the BBC offerings, were the others).
In a roundtable discussion he referred to the other journalists as "you people".
The cold stares from everyone were very telling. I didn't see him on TV again until he did his stint on ESPN.

the black gal gwen is hardly objective on obama and his administation, after making millions writing a pro-obama book that helped’him get re-elected.
As far as I know, he never actually said, but that was the rumor going around.
He was a nice guy, quite intelligent, fairly conservative and a Canadian, and Jim Lehrer is a fairly dominant and driven American with what is reputed to be a hard-*ss type-A personality, so they weren’t getting along.
Or, anyway, that’s the way I heard it.
