Why would wolves kill or injure 25 sheep and not eat them? I don’t believe that. There’s something else to this story.

Are you saying the farmer cried wolf?

Some outdoorsmen near my brother's place in Idaho found dozens of wolf killed elk in a box canyon last spring. Many of the carcases hadn't been eaten from.

It's happened many times, this one in May of this year:
Wolves Kill 31 Sheep On South-Central Idaho Ranch
excerpt:
Idaho Wildlife Services State Director Todd Grimm says the final mortality count for kills on May 10 and May 12 was 13 ewes and 18 lambs.
Peavey says a state Fish and Game representative determined wolves were to blame and Idaho Wildlife Services has a kill order on at least two wolves in the area.

Wolves in packs will kill for sport if they are not hungry.

Because they can wolves have a long history of killing for fun.
Don't believe all the anti's pro wolf BS that wolves only eat what they kill and kill what they eat.
To: PistolPaknMama
I’ve had stray dogs kill chickens just for the fun of it. None were eaten.

This is standard wolf behavior. Why do you think our ancestor's got rid of them? They are one of the species that enjoy killing. They will eat one of them but the rest are for sport.

It is entirely plausible. Roaming dog packs have been known to do that to sheep herds when I was growing up on the farm in Minnesota. It wasn’t to eat, but merely for the fun of it. Any dog seen “packin” was immediately shot—whether your own dog or not. Once a sheep killer, always a sheep killer. No turning back for the mutt.

We took in a dog that needed a home when I was a child. He lost his home at our house when he started killing mom’s chickens for fun.

They will wait to attack a cow elk giving birth.
There have been sheep kills in Montana.
