Did yo read the article?
Off-duty St. Clair County deputies stopped cars at random at road block areas. The road blocks were marked with signs stating it was a paid survey. Cars stopped were asked for voluntary cooperation. Drivers were offered $10 for a mouth swab, and $50 for a blood test. If they refused, they were free to drive away.
Everything above the line was quoted from you. That was in your statement.
Nowhere did I state that teenagers were swabbed without parental permission. I don't believe any of us know if indeed any teenagers were involved. Do you?
1964 - Supreme Court Decision on Prayer in Public Schools:
Congress shall make no laws regarding the establishment of religion, nor prohibit the “Free Exercise” thereof.
They Courts bastardized the first amendment and it continues to this day.
I wasn’t talking about passengers.
It is difficult ascertaining exactly what you are "talking about".
I have no idea. I didn’t even comment on teenagers. Check your post #47
Do you know why sentences in italics are used? Yes or no?
You have no clue about sentences in italics, do you?
The same survey/sampling could have been conducted on a street corner or at a rest area without imposing on anyone who did not wish to participate, without disrupting the normal flow of traffic, and could have been conducted without requiring a police presence.
What's next, police roadblocks to sell Girl Scout cookies?
Without randomly stopping traffic, how can one ask the travelers if they'd be willing to participate in a survey?
Every business, every High School cheerleader fundraiser car wash, etc. does just that.
No police presence required.
It hit too close to home. I usually pretty pro-LE but this turned my stomach.
When you used it, i understood you were quoting. My phone doesn’t let me use italics, so i substituted. Again, i wasn’t commenting on the teens part of the comment.
So what was your purpose in posting it?
Try reading the rest of it.
Here, i’ll make it easy.
Were the drivers forced to go through it?
“No!”
_____________
They were if they needed to get to the
other side. And dodging a road block
does routinely get pork attention.
And why should anyone have to detour or
stop?
So what was your purpose in posting the teen part?
You had asked the question
“Were the drivers forced to go through it?
No!
_____________
My answer was, Yes they were forced to go through the road block. If their trip took them to the other side of the road block, then they had little choice.
And dodging a road block is a very good way to get pork attention. It looks guilty and has the cop wondering why you are avoiding them.
Then I asked one basic question. For this situation, why should the cops have had the power to stop anyone? I question the use of checkpoints of any kind stopping people without reasonable suspicion or probable cause, let alone one that forcibly stops people for some blinking research project.
You want to do a volunteer project? Put up a sign and invite people to stop. Don’t use the popo to force them to stop.
Pork? What are you, a food taster?
