When Christians try to do those things, we are called intolerant and “rigid”. We are told that we can not enforce our religious values on our children. We are told that our moral codes are outdated.

Give him a little credit. Whatever he's said or done wrong in his life, I really doubt he ever said your moral code was outdated.
