WASHINGTON Two years into a civil war that shows no signs of ending, the Obama administration is considering resettling refugees who have fled Syria, part of an international effort that could bring thousands of Syrians to American cities and towns.
A resettlement plan under discussion in Washington and other capitals is aimed at relieving pressure on Middle Eastern countries straining to support 1.6 million refugees, as well as assisting hard-hit Syrian families.
The State Department is "ready to consider the idea," an official from the department said, if the administration receives a formal request from the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees, which is the usual procedure...
"Americans have a long tradition of welcoming refugees," said Daryl Grisgraber, a Washington-based Middle East specialist at Refugees International, which provides advocacy and services for refugees. "They'll respond here, too."

No Muslims, but accept Christians, Druze and Kurds.
Muslims only, per usual, we assume.
The State Dept. SOP seems to be that Christians need not apply - and they are the ones being routinely rounded up by the “Rebels” and being slaughtered by the thousands.
Yet we leave Christians to suffer and die while we welcome their persecutors and murderers with open arms and put them on welfare in section 8 housing for life while they breed like mink, towards their goal of eventually outnumbering and outvoting the Christians and Jews here.
Then once they do, guess what’s going to happen here in Amerikka?
What a Country; Founded by geniuses - run by idiots.
File on un-documentated alien, Fuehrer of Obamanation B. Hussein Obama, formerly known as Barry Soetoro, a legal citizen of the sovereign Nation of Indonesia.
Maybe this is a new repackaging of the need for intervention in Syria?
Nothing else has worked yet.
We, the American people, will be the only ones who don’t get to vote on this. What could possibly go wrong?
The fast track to citizenship is not about Mexicans but Muslim refugees.
Now things are making sense.
There is a statutory cap on refugees of 70,000. No more than half of those can come from the middle east region and we’re already dealing with refugee requests from various countries throughout the region. Unless Congress changes the rules, this is an overblown issue. We’ll be taking a maximum of around 30K refugees from the middle east this year whether they’re Syrian, Egyptian, Iraqi, Afghani, or whateveri. Even if the administration decides to tilt things towards the Syrians, it’s not likely to change the makeup of the population we let in.
Cloward-Piven. Welcome to the United States of Islam.
