Edward Snowden's choice of Hong Kong as a refuge from US retribution has been admired by some international lawyers but it has not quelled speculation that he may seek asylum in another state thereafter, and activists in Iceland are making preparations should the whistleblower try to head there.

Ecuador seems to love these types.
“These types?”
The man is a hero.
He should return here for trial so that Anonymous can release more of the documents they’re holding as insurance for him.
That would give these internationalists another shot in the ass.
The Fourth Amendment should rule.
If Snowden makes it to Beijing. I’m inviting him to a beer Summit. When Bush White House officials leaked stories, they were considered heroes. But when Obama’s White House officials start leaking, than the MSM declares them traitors and deserving of death. Well, I’m gonna play by the partisan rules. Snowden, ‘This Bud’s for you,” and “I’ll buy the first round.”
Oh, of course he is.
He should return here for trial
Would that be even more heroic than running away?
so that Anonymous can release more of the documents theyre holding as insurance for him
They are also all heroes, right?
That would give these internationalists another shot in the ass.
Because Snowden, Anonymous and Assange (heroes all) aren't internationalists themselves?
The Fourth Amendment should rule.
Indeed. Neither the government nor anonymous hackers should be allowed to violate personal security.
Man it’s too bad glm’s vanity on this topic was pulled comparing Manning and Snowden.
His vanity posting license should be revoked forever.
I agree with your last.
I’m not convinced of your fourth point. It’s entirely possible we’re only witnessing a very tiny portion of some greater, ongoing struggle within Big Money circles.
If that’s the case, this affair just keeps getting more interesting.
I wouldn’t call him a hero. He voted for Obama. That negates what he did. Sort of like him setting the house on fire and then putting a small section of it out. That’s not a hero.
We must track the emails, phone calls, text messages, financial transactions and other forms of communication for all American citizens. Its required for national security to stop the barbarian goat herders in Afghanistan who don’t even have electricity.
Forget that we know who the terrorists are already. We could get a warrant for them. No we must track every single American citizens every single waking thought. Do it for the children!!!

Actually he voted for Ron Paul.
Voting for President is irrelevant. Read the Twelfth Amendment, section 1, article 3.
What Snowden did bolsters the Fourth, and compensates for any illusory bad intentions he may have possessed in the past.
I always think the worst of this administration.
In my opinion, they probably snooped on Republicans only, otherwise why weren’t Capt. Hasan and the Boston bombers caught beforehand?
Otherwise, if Snowden ends up in China we'll know he was a spy for China and perhaps that is what 0bama discussed with the Chinese president during his visit. Still doesn't mean 0bama wasn't in on it though.
There are LOTS of techies with libertarian leanings of the Ron Paul/Rand Paul variety. Many of them working as Government contractors.
We’ve not seen the last of these leaks.
Envy you, I do, ermmmm.
I just saw the Snowden video on a Chinese news station. Here are some things to note. It’s not a big story in China. But I’m good at reading eyes. Here’s my take, he seems legit, meaning feels guilty for helping Obama’s espionage network. He looks normal, not the Alex Jones type. But he doesn’t seem to have much common sense and somewhat naive. He’s a bit nervous, but that’s to be expected. He may feel that he’s going to get protection, but I don’t think anyone’s made any guarantees with him. Hence, he could get thrown under the bus. Yes, he’s got an inflated opinion of himself. But how many of us Americans don’t have that problem? He appears to enjoy the attention but not aware of how dangerous his situation really is. He may soon get a wake up call. He’s relatively calm under pressure, which may explain how he gots his promotions at the NSA. However, I still think he had good intentions leaking the information because he wants to warn the USA about the dictatorial powers of the government. But his biggest weakness appears to be that he is seeking the spotlight and wants global recognition. Accordingly, many will perceive his weakness as malevolent, when in actuality he’s just thinking like a fool. Trust me there’s a BIG difference. For example: Biden is a fool; Obama and Hillary are malevolent.
He could probably live in Boston.
No chance the NSA/CIA/FBI could find him there.
Probably drive around with a license plate reading: “Leaker1”
I know a lot of illegals in Tucson. He could blend right in and sell tamales at Target in the parking lot. I wonder if he speaks Mexican.
Edward Snowden is a pretty bizarre (or maybe bat-guano CRAZY) character, at one time a True Believer in the Current Regime, who has lost his religion. Thinking that the phone surveillance would stop with the election of his idol, the Current Occupant of the White Hut, he mistakenly held back from blowing the whistle while Bush was still in office.
But as it turns out, the Current Occupant is more Nixonian than Richard Nixon himself. Because it was all in a “good and just cause”, the phone surveillance was continued, and if anything, greatly expanded to include much of the Internet.
There is no longer much of ANYTHING that is “Bush’s fault”, as there has been ample opportunity since January 2009 to repeal any and all of these programs. If Obama continues to employ these means, it is because he finds huge advantage to keeping them in place.
If only they were used for their original purpose, which was to detect and neutralize FOREIGN threats. But the program has been repurposed to keep watch on US citizens.
The Current Regime has become the enemy.
I’ve seen the same video. This guy seems—at once—frightened, arrogant, confused, proud that he did the right thing, and rather naive.
He’s a 29-year-old genius who’s taking on the most powerful, corrupted organization in history—the US Government. I’d feel a little pressure, too!
Your points are well-taken. And I think he could have handled the whole affair better, starting with NOT running to our avowed Communist Chinese enemies. However, I still wish him well.
