then the other teachers in the department examine their teaching credentials,Teaching credentials don't count at most colleges. Maybe they do in junior colleges but they count for nothing in most four year institutions and all research institutions .

Surprise!
Affirmative action types who get into Human Resources are VERY discriminating in hiring.
It is another dirty little non-secret most people are afraid to speak of lest they be accused falsely of racism.
Conservatives and decent people allowed the “entitled” to get too many positions of power;probably in an attempt to appease and shut them up. but whiners and naggers will never be satisfied.

We’ll see. We’re hoping online schooling will be more mature by the time we’re thinking of college. I do know they’re not going to any state schools around here.

Yeah, it's hard to get tenure as a conservative unless one can read textbooks; write sentences with a subject, verb, and predicate; spell appropriate words not picked up by a spell checker; and capitalize proper nouns.
Liberals do not necessarily need these skills, nor do they always have to demonstrate critical thinking. The ability to talk louder may be enough.

Not just conservatives—Anyone with experience in the real-world is shunned, as well.

They both have online programs. Good luck whatever your family chooses, and congratulations on having a bright kid!

And a example of why Liberalism is a cult/religion to some. It is their BELIEF, beyond all facts, reason and logic.

I also recommend Liberty U. I have been going there and they have great curriculum. Their writing assignments are great. I don't like the way they have their quizzes set up though, not real world; what business asks you to do quizzes?

I have theorized how this happened a number of years ago in an FR post. As I recall it went something like this:
During the Viet Nam war, a number of students chose to pursue graduate studies purely because they would have been immediately eligible for the draft after their bachelor degree was completed and graduate school delayed that possibility. These students tended to be liberals and when they finally did graduate with their PhDs decided or were more likely limited to careers in academia.
