I am 43 this year. I have been the victim of crime ONCE in my 25 yrs as an adult living in the UK. The last 25 yrs where crime in the UK has risen.

That depends on where you live and where you work. Do you ride public transportation through bad areas? I live in the rural areas now but spent a few years close to the worst section of a city. Walked and rode through high crime areas. I am 50 now and more careful, but have not been victimized by any type of crime against me or my property and I carry thousands of dollars in cash and cash equivalents at times.

I live in a large town (by UK standards), bar two years on a farm. I have worked and lived in Glasgow, the UK’s hardest and most violent city. As well as Paisley, which was once Europe’s murder capital (by % of murder). I have driven and walked through some of the UK’s worst areas. With a company car, expensive suits and watch, mobile phone etc.

For all that, my one crime was ironically a burglary in my own home!.
