Dad of five faces jail for bashing burglar at business
EXCLUSIVE
By CRAIG WOODHOUSE
A DAD of five is facing jail for confronting two men who were allegedly raiding his business.
Andrew Woodhouse is accused of GBH with intent.
But wife Lisa told The Sun he was trying to defend himself after one alleged raider came at him with a plank as he chased them off. Mr Woodhouse grabbed the wood and allegedly used it on Kevin Green, 52, injuring both his legs and an arm.
The offence carries a maximum LIFE sentence.
Mr Woodhouse, 43, was woken at night by a burglar alarm put in his home after previous raids on his nearby paving firm in Abergavenny, South Wales.
The other alleged burglar, Timothy Cross, 31, is said to have fled and returned with a third man, both wielding planks.
Mr Woodhouse rugby-tackled one and waited for the police.
Green and Cross were charged with theft of fuel from the firm in March. Both will appear at Cwmbran Magistrates Court on Thursday as will Mr Woodhouse after the Crown Prosecution Service decided he used unreasonable force.
But Lisa said: What was Andrew to do? Let them belt him?
The case comes just months after the law was changed to protect people who use force against burglars. But it only applies in their homes, not if intruders are chased outside.
Mr Woodhouses MP, Tory David Davies, called the move to charge him astonishing.
Facing jail ... Andrew Woodhouse
Maybe the Brits should provide training in Islam, then they can be very politically correct.
Shoot, shovel, shut up.
Or in this case, finish beating to death with plank, shovel, shut up.
I am not going to, this is a ridiculous charge, and hopefully the judge will thrown this out straight away and lambast the CPS.
I was a victim in Sept 2008 of a similar burglary, in which I punched the burglar and restrained him. All I got was a pat on the back from the police and judge at court.
Firstly, the UK-US difference has more to with classification of crime rather than the UK being rampantly more violent than the US.
Secondly, most burglaries arent live, they take place when the victim isnt home.
Thirdly, this stupid charge dosent change the fact that UK citizens ARE allowed to defend their property, even to death if necessary (burglar stabbed to death in Manchester last year-—homeowner no charge). As I have just posted, I myself was the victim of a burglary and used violence to defend myself and property. For which I was commended.
The law has even been strengthened, but the CPS is stupidly using the ‘he was outside’ angle and lack of common sense. The law clearly needs to be tightened, as the CPS is using this loophole to waste the courts time with a stupid charge.
In court, were you? Then you were arrested for defending yourself and yes, yes, I know, I know, it’s just a formality that the judge throws out every time.
Like fun it is.
I will keep you all updated with this case.
Fallen, but not finished. No more than stupid stories out of the US means America is finished.
Without reading this crap, who determines what is GBH? To me it means I shot off your right arm, your left knee cap and your pecker.
I admit that the UK is not a lot more violent. But the US has a larger underclass that tends to be more violent. The US also has a powerful deterrent for people who would be victims in the UK. Specifically the rape rate is higher in the UK and I doubt that is due to classification. In the US a rapist may get shot by a potential victim, but not in the UK.
The criminals in business suits have to protect their fellow criminals on the streets!
A lot of people would argue we have passed our peak. Too many moochers relying on the government here means they are also willing to sign away their God-given rights for a free meal. Looking at the big picture, the British empire fell and the decline followed decades later and the same will probably happen here. The decline is not complete by any stretch but I don't see it turning around.
Stiff upper lip!
That's a lie and both you and your buddy Piers Morgan know it.
By any definition one uses for muggings, rapes, burglaries, robberies and murders the UK is almost exponentially more violent than the United States.
There are more muggings, rapes, burglaries, robberies, murders, beatings, etc.. in the U.K. per 100,000 people than in the U.S.
That's fact.
It's also fact that on the list of most violent countries according to U.N. Statistics (something you socialists should be embracing) the U.K. is in the top 100 most violent countries in the world. The United States isn't even in the top 100.
Take your bullshit lies elsewhere.
Absolutely terrible, hope more Britons start getting extremely vocal, and the UKIP party gaining ground is a very hopeful sign that things may change for the better.
FUGB, and all the backstabbing, pedantic rules through which you persecute the good citizens you obviously do not deserve.
the scotsman: America is finished.

lj: It will turn around for sure. Just has to get really bad. Millions of people hate what’s happening and are getting more motivated every day.
A lot of us here agree with you.
That’s England, a country with its collective stiff upper lip up its collective anal sphincter.
Murder rate:
UK: 1.2 per 100000
US: 4.8 per 100000
Rape: the % figures are equal.
