Germany has submitted a proposal on regulating carbon dioxide limits for cars that campaigners say is a desperate attempt to weaken EU emissions limits.
The proposal calls on EU member states to allow carmakers to bank credits earned by producing electric cars, in order to make heavier, more polluting vehicles.
The European Commission has proposed limiting average fleet emissions to 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer (g/km) from 2020, down from the 130 g/km limit set for 2015. But in what many saw as a capitulation to the German car industry, it decided to reinstate a supercredits scheme in which electric cars counted more towards the average emissions of a fleet.

The Germans treat ecological stewardship like a religion. It’s a moral law. They look at us like the imams look at us, with a superior moral eye.
This non truth will catch up to them
Of course there has to ‘emissions credits’. How else can rich people maintain their use of private jets and Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagens and still feel morally superior?
Little people don’t need to go far from home, or very often. Toy electric cars for them!
Yeah. And if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
What I notice about the liberal mind is that it is never limited by reality. The basic laws of physics and chemistry are not relevant to their dream world utopia of how they wish things to be. With this in their subconscious, they create these loop holes to elicit an holier than thou feeling within themselves.
BMW has a large, in-house electric car development group that has already developed the i3 and i8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and is well-along in developing full-electric drivetrains.
Mercedes-Benz is one of the larger investors in Tesla Motors, so Mercedes-Benz has access to Tesla's electric-car technology.
The Volkswagen group (Audi/Porsche/VW) has its own large in-house electric car development group.
As such, by 2020, it's possible the German automakers will be among the largest manufacturers of electric cars on Earth. This why they can push this proposal.
“The Germans treat ecological stewardship like a religion. Its a moral law. They look at us like the imams look at us, with a superior moral eye.”
I interviewed with a Canadian company doing 50% of their business in Europe. The interviewer, a Director, said, “All you have to do in Germany is put the word ‘green’ on your proposal and they fall all over themselves buying it.”
Now, their product truly was energy efficient but, gosh...
What angers me is that THE GERMANS AGREED TO IT, the stricter limits. Not just the government, but the country as a whole agreed to dive head-first into saving the world.
...and now it’s too much for them. Same with electrical power - now they’re back to building coal plants and have told their leftists to shove it.
England is looking at power outages during the winter that will drive people out of their homes, or kill them in their homes. Why? Because they AGREED TO cut ‘greenhouse’ gases by 80%. That is a VERY BIG cut, a cut big enough to send them back to a pre-industrial stage, possibly even less carbon emitted, per capita, than the cavemen.
I screamed this at the time, but what do I know, I’m just a half-ass blogger in Texas. The REAL EXPERTS are the people that work for and advise governments - yep, those are the real experts.
The Germans are wonderful. They are good at whatever they take on. Wherever I have something that says Made in Germany or in West Germany I have a treasure, and I do - dishes kitchen gadgets, religious art- statues prints of guardian angels from the twenties.
The Germans have the best food, they like to party and they are witty and fun.
And they are superior in recycling and energy efficiency.
They have little villages separated by land for sheep grazing, walking, hunting. And their trains do run on time.
Their architecture is serious. Some of the homes in the villages, which are old, go back 200 years. The villages date to the middle ages.
And their beautiful churches are empty. Vacant. Protestant and Catholic.
And they devote themselves to the ecology in its place.
They talk about it, judge character by it, obey all its rules like they’re praying.
Yes. The religion falls apart. It is not based on fullness of truth.
the Germans certainly mean well, here.
