WHATS THE MATTER WITH METADATA?
------
Green party politician Malte Spitz sued to have German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom hand over six months of his phone data that he then made available to ZEIT ONLINE. We combined this geolocation data with information relating to his life as a politician, such as Twitter feeds, blog entries and websites, all of which is all freely available on the internet.
Heard a bit of this while surfing the TV ?????
In Soviet Russia, TV watches you!!
Keep the older model TV ????
oh, what a bunch of whiners!
“studying who you call, and who they call. If you can track that, you know exactly what is happening”
Yeah, and here’s another scenario:
Cops watch who’s loitering around town and who they hang out with. If you catch that you know exactly what is happening”.
Huh?
It has always been true that law enforcement looks for patterns that might lead to prevention or solving of crimes. This is no different. Some people just don’t like it because they have an unwarranted expectation of privacy, and it’s possible to observe trends more efficiently than ever before.
If you have nothing to hide, it’s a non issue.
Al Gorse demanded it years ago:
We need more metatags!!
” If you have nothing to hide, its a non issue.”
That’s a servile attitude.
Yeah, no problem until the regime decides that you are a “threat to democracy” like those “treasonous” Tea Partiers. So much more efficient rounding up those “terrorist cells” when you have all that metadata.
If a police officer follows someone who is walking in public, that's one thing. It's not the same thing as this.
Not doing anything wrong? Like disagreeing with the government?
By the way, have you read about how many innocent people John Brennan had killed based on misinformation that they were terrorists?
“If you have nothing to hide, it’s a non issue”.
Really? What when a government turns tyrannical and targets your religion, point-of-view etc.? When you have to hide who you are because you might lose your job or, worse, be arrested for breaking the PC police rules? In the UK you can now be jailed for free speech. You can be sued, audited, etc. - then anybody you talk to will be investigated, they’ll create lists of individuals that communicate together and target them.
You think this is paranoia? It is the level of power and respective potential for abuse that is frightening and real. I can’t believe you’re ok with it....welcome to 1984 - and you don’t care. Don’t WHINE when they come for you because there will be nobody left to give a damn.
It’s extortion.
‘Give us all your data or our buddies here (terrorists THEY let in since 1965) will blow you up!’.
This is disturbing to see, it should be shown on the networks so the general public is made aware.

tell that to the christians who were killed by stalin for being christians or the communist dissents in east germany killed and jailed byt the stasi for disagreeing with the goverment, how long until christanity is outlawed and you become a criminal like in the soviet union? then you got something to “hide” , freaking marxist scum you are
So you are saying it’s not an issue that the government knows from metadata collected without a warrant everywhere you go and everyone you talk to?
You are an idiot. A servile insect. A totalitarian bootlicker.
Pick one, or all.
Bump what you said.
Let me tell you how totalitarian hellholes work... First there's many different standards. For the top group whatever they do is OK... murder steal, lie, accept bribes - whatever. That group puts in a 501 request to the IRS and they get the big quick 'OK - you've got it'.
Then there's a different group - everything they do is watched and condemned. If they Jay walk the press picks up on it. If they apply to the IRS for an exemption for non-profit status or anything they have many hoops to jump through. Even then there will be 'problems'...
It's how hellholes operate. So, having something to 'hide' depends on the group you're in... And no, these folks didn't catch ft Hood, didn't catch 9/11, didn't catch the Boston bomber. But they probably know what Tea Party leaders had for breakfast...
