A typical .45 slug traveling at 950 feet per second, which a small person with a little training can fire with EXTREMELY easy-to-handle recoil (if you want proof, go to a shooting range sometime and watch experienced shooters), would hit that body armor with the force of a solid whack from a lead pipe or log. It would certainly stagger him, and probably knock him on his ass. TWO slugs, or three, on that body armor, would have him on the ground and at a significant disadvantage.

In that Colorado theater shooting, one or two decently-trained civilians (and I know plenty of them personally) armed with concealed .45s, could have disabled that shooter quickly and saved lives. In times of stress, the eyes often dilate and give you the ability to see in the dark, and also they could identify the location of the shooter by his muzzle flashes. It is SICK and DISGUSTING to see how many self-described "experts" here are falling all over themselves to try to convince people that they should roll over instead of fight back.

ANYBODY here who tells you that body armor makes the shooter impervious to concealed-carry defense of higher caliber like .45s, is LYING. You have to wonder why.

Heya, Tiger!! Good to see you!!! I hope you're well! See my posts #78 and #79. As it happens, I regularly shoot .45 pistols one-handed (alternating, one in each paw "gunfighter" style) and can handle the recoil just fine while hitting the targets, thank you very much, and I'm only about 130 lbs. I also shoot 12 gauge shotguns regularly and handle their recoil with ease, and know women I outweigh by 20 lbs easy who can handle same size shotguns quite handily and outshoot me with regard to speed and accuracy! It is a myth -- a dangerous myth -- that small women can't handle the recoil from shotguns or .45s. They CAN and DO.

And it's just as dangerous a myth that concealed-carry folks cannot disable a bad guy who's wearing body armor. If the concealed carrier has a big enough load, like a .45, they can knock the guy to the ground. Again, the folks I see here arguing otherwise who present themselves as "experts," make me very suspicious because I know they are lying. WHY are they lying?

Did you read my post, look at the picture, and look at the price?

It’s not armor. Armor is not wide open in the center of the chest. Armor does not cost $108.

It’s an ammo vest. And I am just guessing that is what he wore. The typical college student likely doesn’t have real armor.

A .45 can’t knock a person over just by the impact. But you are right that an armored person will be stunned and may be put out of commission by a few good hits from a .45.
