House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Thursday that health insurance premiums will go up under Obamacare because people who did not buy insurance before, and thus had no premium at all, will now be forced to buy insurance.
She also urged people to be optimistic about Obamacare. You just see, Pelosi said. I mean be optimistic about it. It is a very, very exciting enterprise.
Its also about what you get for the money, Pelosi added. In other words, people will be getting no lifetime or annual limits on their coverage, no discrimination because of a preexisting medical condition. It has a whole array of quality that is in the legislation. But if you dont have health insurance, and you dont qualify for a subsidy, and youre mandated to have health insurance, yes, you will have an increase, she said.
I dont remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium, because everybody in the country doesnt have health insurance, Pelosi continued. So how could it be lower? But the fact is, the value of what you get for the cost that you pay is a reduction in cost to you.

a wonderful system they’ve foisted on us....

Pelosi was never an intelligent or ethical woman, and now she is senile. Nancy gets duped by her own lies. I remember when the leftturds were telling us healthcare would cost less with Obamacare, and Pelosi was eating that sack of crap right up. The thinking was that since everyone would be paying for healthcare, everyone would have lower premiums. Pelosi forgot that lie, and now that bug eyed, shriveled up piece of skank droppings is using the same argument to justify higher prices.
I so agree with you. The GOP is largely made up of spineless jellyfish. They will do nothing to stop this abomination. May God have mercy on us all.
I wonder if there is some clause in there that is similar to Part D of Medicare. This Part D rule states that even though you are not *mandated* to carry prescription coverage, IF you do not and IF, in future, you find yourself needing coverage for medications, those not covered from the time they first became eligible for Medicare will be charged a surcharge, per month, for each month they could have been covered but were not. I forget the percentages (IIRC, it is .06%/month),but it will increase the premium quickly.
Your hypothetical 28-year-old will pay an increasing fine, each year he is not covered. Within 5-6 years, his fine will exceed his premium at that time. If he has an accident or becomes ill, likely he will be confronted in the ER or in the hospital and forcibly signed up. The stick will be that otherwise he is liable for an astronomical bill, which will be greatly reduced if he has coverage.
I wonder what is going to happen to my Medicare Supplement, which right now has a $3M lifetime cap and the premium has increased about 8% just this year. I have zero co-pay at the moment. With no lifetime cap, given I am already 70.5, will I see an increase and a co-pay by 2015? By then, I will already have become ineligible by virtue of age for some procedures or tests. But I will have coverage for pregnancy, abortion, STDs and mental health services I do not need.
The companies that issue these mandated policies act as though they are our owners. I just had an episode with my Part D provider. I was accepted to a State program that is tiered by income. I qualified as low-income. I disenrolled in writing from the previous policy as soon as I was covered under the State program.. The original provider insisted that I was not ALLOWED to disenroll outside the mandated period allowed. Then, after agreeing that the low income elderly were ALLOWED to disenroll at any time, they refused to honor my first attempt to disenroll because my typed letter did not have a hand signature. After some heated discussion over the phone, they ALLOWED my disenrollment but not for the first month, due to the lack of the handwritten signature, provided I sent a 2nd leter with a handwritten date and signature by the end of the next month. I did. Now, they are *graciously* ALLOWING me to leave their policy, but “since their billing system is automatic” (sic), I will be billed for 2 months’ premiums until the end of the contract year, in October. I have informed them that I followed all the rules, the need for a handwritten signature was not made clear in their rules or Medicare’s rules and I will not pay those 2 months’ premiums. The 2nd month of billing is totally fraudulent, since I have a letter from them stating that I was ALLOWED to disenroll as of May. It has been a nightmare. I filed a grievance, which will go to Medicare, and I intend to turf this entire farce to my Senator and Representative if they make any attempt to collect the 2 months’ premiums. The entire incidence was one of them using intimidation and coercion under cover of a Government mandate. The 2 months of premiums are not a lot of money, but this is a matter of principle. Under _their_ rules, I belong to a protected class (low income elderly) for which there are special provisions that I met in full. This *protection* is the only reason I was ALLOWED to leave their policy, at all.
Good luck to anyone entering this rabbit hole. The insurance companies and the hospitals will do the dirty work and the LIV will never blame the Democrats or the Administration. They will instead blame the obstinate institutions who are seeking their promised pound of flesh, ounce by ounce. We, the citizens, have been bought and sold by this Administration and it took all of about 2 minutes in conversation with a supervisor for the policy to have that made clear to me. I am strong willed and I had the rules on my side, but it was a battle that is still not resolved. If they will go to the mat over $80, how will they react when they have tens of thousands per individual at stake?
This will not be pretty and I predict it will not end well.
your going to have to get in line for that
sorry.
Perhaps we should send her a copy of her words then and now. Better yet, use it in an ad.
Careful
Next thing you know They will be demanding Jim’s forum records.
Sort of kidding...
When he files his taxes he will need to include the “tax”/”penalty” for zerocare or somehow “prove” he has coverage.
Failure to do so will lead to an audit.
This is how I understand it. (I could be wrong)

Yes, I’ve thought about it. I’ve decided I should just speak my mind without fear. If they come get me, it’s better to know how far we’ve fallen. I’ve never threatened a life but I sure have cursed them. :)
The idea is to get Zombie liberals to take the bait.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Someone should put up a website that sells/provides insurance for liberals only.
With premiums inline with what they were before ZeroCare.
In the terms and conditions, (which nobody reads) they could explain that they will not debit your account or provide any coverage.
Other than that, make the site look legit.
How do you figure? AFIK Congress tried to exempt themselves as the bill was originally written but an amendment was passed that requires members of congress to purchase their coverage in state exchanges next year. Some were quietly trying to change that before all these scandals broke, but AFIK the requirement to get coverage on the exchanges still stands, at least for congress. There does seem to be some disagreement about requirements for some of their staff.
Her head will still have that rictus smile on it when stuck on a pike.
>>Who would’ve guessed that too much civilization leads directly to its downfall?
In a technological and free market society, everyone’s basic needs are met by the incredible surplus generated. So, as “civilized” people, we start demanding less and less from our fellow citizen because there’s plenty of people and automation to take up the slack. Eventually, everyone is worthless and there’s no one left to pick up the slack...or fix the machines.
Easy for her to say, she’s one of those who exempted themselves from it.
Probably when it’s time to renew their car - they have
an angle for everything.
