By now youve probably read about 1,000 versions of Chris Christies political obituary in the last six months, and will probably do so again in the next few months. The story is always roughly the same: Christie was already in peril in a Republican presidential primary, given his status as a relative moderate from the Northeast. Further complicating things, the Republican base believes that his effusive praise of Barack Obamas handling of Hurricane Sandy cost Mitt Romney the 2012...

In 2012, the New Jersey electorate was 44 percent Democrat, 30 percent Independent, and 26 percent Republican. In 2009 -- the early stages of a perfect storm that aided Republicans -- it was 41 percent Democrat, 31 percent Republican, and 28 percent Independent. In other words, he simply cant win re-election by just tending to his base. He needs to win Independents by at least the 30-point margin he achieved in 2009...

Chris Christie is a poor fit for the state(Iowa), even setting aside his definitively Northeastern persona. He is pro-life, but he supports civil unions. He believes homosexuals are not sinners. He believes global warming is real and at least partly caused by humans. He favors some gun control measures. Beyond this, he is a rather staunch conservative. But the strikes against him are more than enough to tank his chances in Iowa...

That sort of campaign works well for a true outsider, someone who has angered his party a bit, at a time when people are disgusted with Washington. It also works well for an authentic individual. Chris Christie oozes authenticity, much as McCain did not in 2008 (but did eight years earlier). It would be an interesting matchup against Hillary Clinton, who epitomizes Washington insider and who often suffered from a wooden persona in 2008...

Christie is a piece of S#IT, I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him and I only weigh 173 pounds.
Made no comment on that; the idea is coming out of nowhere; we could have used ‘more base’ ~
I like the way you think.
I don't. The rats are shameless. That's a guaranteed vote for Dingy Harry. The Torch got out of the race, being replaced by the Laut in 2002, because the Torch was crashing in the polls.
He might be hot stuff in 2014, but he doesn’t know diddly squat about 2000. And I don’t worship Barone, either, although I think he’s good at what he does. McQueeg?
Ooze authenticity?” It is to laugh out loud. Thanks for reminding me of his name, because I will always take anything he says with a huge grain of salt.
Guess what? Anybody would be a guaranteed vote for Dingy Harry because there’s no way Fat boy names a Pubbie to sit in that seat until next year. Give someone they can choke on.
Fixed it.
LOL!
I think Barone is the best political analyst in the USA, and Sean Trende is a close 2nd, IMHO. If you enjoy numbers, they have them.
I volunteered for McCain in 2000. He became toxic after 2000 with his gun show loophole crap and campaign finance reform, ditto global warming crap.
LOL, leave it to a rat operative like Sean Trende to try to make the GOPe’s case for Pork Porkie.
Porkie’s gun grabbing alone kills any slim ((heh!) chance he may have once had for national relevance before he was exposed as just another Northeast liberal. Add to that his relationship with his BFF, the African communist Ubama, his constant criticism of responsible Republicans for not rubber stamping the pork-laden hurricane relief slush fund, his homo hugging, and his footsie-playing with Islamic terrorists, and you have somebody whose name shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as “conservative”.
Fasten your seatbelts everybody - - here comes the GOPe and their next losing ticket: Jeb Bush / Pork Porkie 2016.
I’ve been in AZ since before McQueeg was a Congressman, and he was toxic with me since well before 2000. That’s true for a lot of people when it comes to him. Sometimes it just takes a little exposure to get soured on somebody. Not only is McQueeg a backstabber, but he’s a mean, miserable little toad. As I mentioned earlier, he’s been a reptile since he was born.
It’s like that old commercial, but in reverse. “The farther you are, the better you look.”
I agree with you about Barone, he’s probably the best, but just because this ignorant Trende person is working with him on a scholarly work, doesn’t mean the dweeb is credible to me. Demonstrating a breathtaking lack of grasp of political history about McQueeg isn’t helping.
What makes you call him a rat operative?
I actually have no idea who he is. But here come the "Pork Porkie, Will He Be The GOP Nominee in 2016?" pieces, one after another until Porkie is finally proclaimed a "leading contender". People who contribute to this campaign to make Pork Porkie a name that is actually considered for contention in any way for the 2016 race must be presumed to be either rat operatives or GOPe scum.

On a more medical than comical note, didn’t Christie just have the lap band put in place?
Yep, just like Mike Huckabee before him. How’d that work out?
Oh dear.
RCPs Sean Trende likes Scott Walkers chances in 2016
He reminds me of Michael Barone. He's almost that good, IMHO. He's just looking at the situation from Pork Porkie's point of view.
Thanks for that.
I sometimes jump to conclusions too quickly, but Pork Porkie makes me sick to my stomach.

By the way, I really like Scott Walker. That guy has guts.
