Except she’s too small to accept adult sized lungs. Still, a slim chance of finding an appropriate sized lung is much better than a zero chance off the list.

I know that I was at my full height and “young adult” weight when I was 10. (Not my “older adult” weight, but that is another story.)
You rarely get the full story from the news, but did they challenge the list in court based upon age discrimination? That would be a very interesting legal premise.

Supposedly, an adult-sized lung can be made to work in a child. Bad odds no matter what lung though.

the age for an “adult” transplant is 12 and she is 10 and looks pretty big, but puffed up, maybe steroids
the criteria ought to be recipient size weight and other medical conditions that make the transplant viable, not merely age
if the kid wanted an abortion HHS would be defending her in court, not fighting her
