Pardon me if I sound stupid, but if the guy admitted a motive then he admitted the crime.

He’s representing himself. I supposed he could argue justifiable homicide. I don’t think any jury would believe it, but Hasan might believe it.

The only reason this has dragged on for so long is purely due to political correctness.
Any Muslim who takes on the uniform of the US military, owes first allegiance to the nation for which it stands.
Placing first allegiance with anything else is treason. There was an oath sworn out at time of enlistment and commissioning that stated as much.
Of course, if Muslims are not bound by oaths they make to kufir or dhimmi, then they have no business ever serving in the US military.
