Not openly. The black and Hispanic communities in Tampa proper are much bigger and stronger than the gays. I spoke with a Cuban co-worker who said he’s absolutely disgusted. This might not end well.

When I lived in Tampa during the '80's it was called "Gay by the Bay, east". There are more blacks and Hispanics than homosexuals everywhere, practically, but that's not stopping the 3% from getting their way.

Most of them migrated to Orlando in the 90s after they passed the gay pride ban. I’ve lived here over 30 years, and I can say that Tampa has grown as an international trade hub due to our diversity but NOT due to our celebration of sodomy. That’s about to change, apparently.
