I live on Mission Bay. Where was the cannery located?
SeaForth sportfishing is still there (in Quivira basin). Here is the link to their site: http://www.seaforthlanding.com/index.php They had a cannery there wher you could get your fish smoked or canned.
There was a great restaurant there (now a lot smaller) that had great service and food for the fisherman before they went out on the boats. We would go there after water skiing over near Sea World and have a fantastic breakfast and then shower at the Islandia Hotel where we kept our boat. The Islandia is now the Hyatt.
