It’s not the gov’s business to review FB, twiiter or websites to determine if a group of people is fit to have a peaceable assembly.

This is nothing but a tyannical out of control commie government at work.

I don't see anything in that article saying that the Cap Police are going to deny the application. The officer involved actually told the Tea Party rep to go ahead and issue the invitations.

What I do see is a series of legitimate questions regarding potential threat and conclude that the Cap Police are trying to figure out what they need to do to secure the area and protect the public and Members (note they ask specifically whether any Members are going to attend - and the Cap Police are tasked with protecting Members. They've had officers (Detective John Gibson and Officer Jacob Chestnut) take bullets fulfilling this duty (the 1998 shooting where those two were killed was aimed at Conservative Republican Tom Delay, people may recall).

The only people, Ray76, that are looking "foolish" here are Conservatives who are jumping to conclusions, ahead of any sort of denial being issued, about there being a tyrannical intent to suppress free speech, peaceable assembly, the right to petition the government, etc.

Same exact thing that happened a couple weeks back during the anti-IRS rallies at various Federal buildings around the country. FPS (the law enforcement agency tasked with protecting Federal facilities) came out and observed the protests to make sure there wasn't any threat. And people here were talking like they'd been rounded up by the gestapo.

I said then, and I'll say now, that I remember pretty well when Conservatives (and Freepers) were the good guys who worked WITH law enforcement rather than adopt an adversarial posture (like the Left normally does). I remember the "Get out of Cheney's House" protests in late 2000 and the Walter Reed "Support our Wounded Warriors" counter-Code Pink protests in the mid/late 00's and how they all featured detailed information about close coordination between Conservatives/Freepers and Law Enforcement.

Unfortunately it seems that we're going the paranoid route on this these days ...
