McDonald’s Admits: No One’s Really Buying Our Salads
Consumerist ^ | June 3, 2013

Posted on 06/03/2013 1:18:40 PM PDT by SMGFan

When people accuse McDonald’s of serving food that isn’t nutritionally ideal, they can always point to their salad offerings. See, salads are healthy, and McDonald’s serves salads: therefore, you can eat healthy at McDonald’s, but if consumers choose to eat something else, that’s cool, too. Only the company admitted to investors this weekend that they don’t actually sell a lot of those salads: vegetable-based offerings account for maybe 2-3% of McDonald’s sales in the United States.

One thing that has always bugged me is when you ask the wife where she would like to eat, She skritches her head and says “The Steak place”

Well, then you get there and she orders fish and complains that it aint just so LOL

Lordy Lordy

yup! for someone who hates American free market capitalism so much, she sure seems to enjoy what it produces a whole lot...

once her hubby finishes Transforming Amerika into some sort of North Korean or Keynan communist “paradise’ she can kiss all her expensive lifestyle goodbye

or rather, the rest of us can.
because, as with Napolean the Pig in Animal Farm, the pigs who seize power do continue to enjoy the good life

it is just the rest of us that will be reduced to food stamps and Obamaphones

I find the salads over priced and under satisfying.

I always assumed the fast food places did not want to sell those salads since they have the strangest dressing available to put on them. Any “Normal” dressing is not available. You name it. Regular Italian, French, Russian, are not available to name a few. Who is going to buy a salad when they can’t get the dressing they want.

One of the reasons may be that so many health studies show salads are among foods most likely to harbor various bacteria — mostly because of unsanitary employees who put them together. I avoid them unless I’m very familiar with the kitchen staff in a restaurant.

....which reminds me of Roy Rogers w/the Salad Bar! Roy’s was phased out yrs ago but you could buy a salad and fix it how you liked it. I guess I’m showing my age here but it was great!

Not possible these days w/all the crazies throwing their food back at the cashier’s & ripping out cash registers in urban areas.

I’ve been in McDonald’s in Italy. At one point you could pick from an assortment of Italian salads—it was a pretty good deal for a fast meal for a foreigner knowing very little Italian. On a later trip I found they had gone to the kind of salad you would find at a McDonald’s in the US. Not good.

I have the same for lunch about twice a week. McD Salad with grilled chicken, ranch dressing and coffee. I don't know why more people don't buy them. They are good, nutritious, fast(obviously) and cheap.

The dressing comes in a separate packet--Newman's. There is no sugar in the salad itself.

I hope you and the other children don't go to Burger King instead. You don't want to know why.

McDonald's uses Newman's Own dressings. A major brand. Don't know where you get your "information." Maybe like half the people here, you made it up.

I’ve gotten very sick several times from salads at restaurants. Lettuce is full of bacteria and even parasites! Recently, a US government survey released statistics on food poisoning that found lettuce was the most contaminated food item in the country.

I wouldn’t buy anything from McDonald’s even if there was nothing else to choose from.

I therefore have to assume that you have functioning taste buds.
