There were two big shocks for me on election night 2012:
1) Obama beat Romney. I had concluded that 2012 would look a lot like 2004, i.e. a 50-49 victory with about 290 Electoral votes. I did not subscribe to the landslide (i.e. Dick Morris) but did see a narrow Romney victory!
2) All of the talk about the "hispano" vote. I had looked at anecdotal evidence and did not see a "hispano" wave on election day. So I was surprised with all of the conventional wisdom that "hispanos" had reelected Obama.
It turns out that "hispanos" did not really show up after all, according to the CIS, or Center for Immigration Studies:
"Hispanics were 8.4 percent of voters (11.2 million), close to the 8.9 percent the Center for Immigration Studies projected prior to the November election.1 If Hispanic turnout had been what it was in 2008, 450,000 more Hispanics would have voted. "
Unfortunately for Romney, whites also stayed home: "If white turnout had been what it was in 2004, 4.7 million more of them would have voted. Of the 4.7 million whites who sat home on Election Day relative to 2004, 4.2 million did not have a bachelor's degree."
It looks like Romney had a "white" not "hispano" problem.

That is just unfathomable. I cannot fathom being pro-life and pro-Second Amendment and voting for Obama under any circumstances.
The same thing was said after McCain’s loss-that it was conservatives who stayed home.. Once the post-election smoke cleared and information became more clear, it turned out that it wasn’t conservatives who stayed home, it was moderates.
Among OH voters who thought abortion should be illegal in most cases, 74% voted for Romney
Those who thought it should be illegal in all cases gave 81% support to Romney.

Claiming that the Bush reelection margin was entirely made up of purist conservatives is a far stretch. More likely his margin was due to get-along-go-along voters, and he was riding goodwill from 9/11.
Romney popular vote outdrew McCain in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, and yes, Massachusetts.
The only big electoral vote states where Romney popular vote trailed McCain were California, New York, Ohio and New Jersey.
If the Republican party demographic has slipping turnout, whose fault is that except the GOP establishment?
Romney lost Ohio, that took some doing as Romney cost us the Senate and lost a race that couldn’t be lost, running against Jimmy Carter the II.
Running as a pro-choice candidate that wanted to homosexualize the military and the Boy Scout leadership, really hurt him.

Oh, Obama wasn’t a good enough reason to get off their derrieres and vote? Sheeesh.

Of course, the damages that will accrue over the next 20, 30, 40, 50, or more years will be even more painful that Obozo four eight years. But, hey. Those who professed to be conservative, and who stayed home, or didn’t vote the top ticket, or voted a turd candidate, can live with their conscience. Despicable.
Yep, elections come down to winning over the masses, and that is the job of the candidate, not the loyal party voters. When the candidate loses, it’s the candidate’s fault, not the voters’ fault.
Given the state of the GOP today, Ronald Reagan would not have won the primary in 2008 or 2012. That alone speaks volumes about how disorganized the GOP is; with respect to the VOTER, more so than the party itself. Those who stayed home, voted only down ticket, or voted for a turd party candidate are more to blame for the state this nation is currently in than does Obozo - we all knew, or should have known, what Obozo would do as President. At least, I knew what he was going to do before 2008. It didn’t require a rocket scientist to figure it out.
I completely disagree with your premise. If the “loyal party voter” couldn’t bring themselves out to vote for a man who was head and shoulders better than what we already knew we had, that is on the voter, not the candidate.
And, many also seem to forget just how much the Lame Stream Media was Obozo’s cheerleader during the 2012 campaign, resulting in extremely poor coverage of Romney, with exceptional favoritism for Obozo. And, since the IRS and AP scandals have come to light, I’d say there were many reasons why the dimocRATS had “ammunition” against Romney that they had no business having access to. But, hey. At least you can sleep better at night since the election, right?

Between his decades long compassionate wars and lawless open borders which he aided and abetted, were enough to make most conservatives recoil....Bush made me an Independent, while making American citizenship all but pointless.

It would also help if you would tell us what your point is, Romney lost Ohio and lost the election, is your point that being pro-abortion helped him win Ohio and the presidential election? or that it reduced his loss in an election against Jimmy Carter Obama, an election that was a given to the republicans and that Romney managed to blow by being such a God awful loser and liberal?
You are not alone. I want the GOP to put a Conservative like Ted Cruz on the ballot, instead of McPain or Mittens. They both sucked in my books.

I did too. But I also sent 4 letters to various legislators expressing my contempt during the primaries.
