And, of course, they also targeted Pro-life Groups even to the extent of asking about religion etc.

“Keep digging and digging and digging. Dig the IRS grave. I think you could get this to a flatter, simpler tax system. I'd love to see an end to the corporate tax completely. That solves the problem and clarifies who really pays taxes”

That would mean a whole lot less Lawyers, the Rats will have nothing to do with that, Repubs probably as well.

Now, I am going to preface this this by saying that not all lawyers are vampires on society, etc., but whether it's because of necessity in this "modern" society of ours, or self-promotion worked into our legal system by the profession, legal workers (lawyers, etc.) are at some point of overload not productive members of society as far as that society overall is concerned. That is, they at some point do not contribute to a society's wealth, its ability to survive, or even its ability to take care of those who can't take care of themselves.

So, the true unemployment rate would be better represented once those excess lawyers, IRS employees, tax industry employees, and others, were out on the streets looking for productive work. Of course, once the enormous drag on the system was removed, other employment opportunities should open up.

However, in regards to the earlier comment, a flat tax does not go nearly as far in this regard as many people suppose. That is because what I will simplistically refer to as "determination of income" is, for many taxpayers with income streams more complicated than a simple paycheck and perhaps a few investments, by far the bigger, more complex bugaboo. A good example is Schedule C: If you have to file it and a few of the supporting forms (and manage all the supporting evidence / documentation the IRS requires one to keep), you know what I mean.

There are good reasons that State Income Tax forms (at least the ones I am aware of) generally depend heavily on the Federal Form for "determination of income".

A completely separate factor is that the "average Joe" (or Josey) "doesn't feel" their tax hit via withholding taken out of their paycheck in quite the same way that they would if they had to pay, say, 30% (plus whatever state & local sales taxes would be if that was the only significant revenue for those bodies) ... on every purchase. IMO, in such a system the Sales Tax amount should be required to be shown right on the receipt, and NOT shown on "prices on the shelf." Some will disagree, but I truly believe that a clearly visible Sales Tax to generate all tax revenues would significantly shrink government further, because people would hate the high rates "truth" so much. That should eventually force even more workers into more productive careers. In turn a much wealthier society would result. :-)

This isn’t going anywhere. Nothing’s going to happen.

Same with Benghazi and all the other scandals.

If we’re hoping that this will take down a president, it ain’t gonna happen.

If we’re hoping this will affect the 2014 elections, it ain’t gonna happen.

We an FR live in a very small bubble. We’re a permanent minority. What we think here has no affect on the majority of the population’s voting patterns.

Maybe you should take another look outside. Perhaps it is indeed not what WE here think, but if you look at "forums" such as comments after MSM online news articles, YouTube vids, etc., sure, the Kool-Aid drinkers (and perhaps even more so the servers) are out in force, trying to do damage control. But they are increasingly being effectively contested and even outnumbered. I think it is the fact that there are several scandals, and the IRS scandal scares almost everybody not totally "taken" by the Kool-Aid. The press is scared by the AP / Fox stories (esp. the AP scandal, I suspect), which alters the tone of some of their stories, at least a little. Plus, as the Administration gets caught in lie after lie (even sometimes by the MSM!), and the reported bouts of "No one knows anything" and incompetence pile up, there is a cumulative effect of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.

Now, do I think Obambi will get tossed out? No, the Constitution makes it pretty hard to depose a President who's determined to stay, and I'm pretty sure The One is much more arrogant, determined, and just flat out unpatriotic than Nixon ever was. For one thing, he's never been banged around in his earlier political career the way Nixon was -- all Baraki has ever really known is political success. If a group of Dem lawmakers go to him to say, "Mr. President, you can no longer govern effectively, please resign for the good of the country", who believes he would do it? However, Conservatives CAN make gains, maybe big ones in 2014, and even failing that, Obama & his brand can be badly damaged. I'd settle for that, as a prelude to 2016.)

One other thing. People forget that the American Revolution was NOT won by a majority of the colonists actively fighting or working against England (then the world's greatest power.) Freepers may be a small group, but we can all do our part. For one thing, support each other here, and spend extra argumentative energy on a few of those other forums, even if they are not quite "neutral". Use well reasoned arguments, read the Inspector General's report if you've not done so already(!), and especially use statements such as the IG's, referring to "unprecedented" actions by the IRS, to drive home your points.

I agree that a national sales tax does away with the entire issue of income and the invasiveness of the IRS. The issue isn’t what to do, it is how to do it.

There are vested interests, bureaucrats, accountants and accounting firms, financial advisors, as well as the recipients of billions of dollars, plus the politicians themselves all of whom benefit from the corruption of the current system.

Half the voting public voted Obama. They sit there while the republic is burnt to the ground. They elected and reelected Bill Clinton. GW Bush grew the bureaucracy. Where is the path back? Show me in practical, real terms how we get there.

Keep in mind the day you try to push a national sales tax the 47% who pay no income taxes will rise up against you and with the MSM trumpeting it 24/7 you’ll be working to ENSLAVE THE POOR!

This happened to me when I was giving significant amounts to Conservative candidates. This tripped the IRS sensors and they sent me a letter stating I owed them over $270,000 in back taxes and to pay up immediately. I sent them copies of all my returns for the last 10 years and asked them to point out where I owed them money. They said they had made a “mistake”.

The IRS has been corrupted by Obama, Rahm, and Jarrett. That is why Rahm bugged out. He was smart enough to know it would eventually unravel and he wanted to be far away when that happened.
