If you consider everything John McCain has ever said or done as simply an action (or reaction) that will result in a benefit to John McCain "now or down the road," he's rather successful, crazy or not. To that end, he's created and fortified an image of himself that has been pretty effective camouflage, but in some ways - to quote another scripted character in a different context - "There's no there there."
For someone who is such a scenery-chewing "friend of the military," my opinion is that he's been remarkably inconsequential in actually helping out the people - past and present - at the pointy end of the spear, and he hasn't met many situations that he didn't want to toss (other Americans') blood and/or money at. I guess in the end, I'm not sure if he's crazy, but he's definitely dangerous.

Agree with you completely. I also am not a Rand fan. I don’t trust him. However if you contrast anyone next to McCain they look good.
