Sir John Dalberg-Acton famously observed, Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. No federal agency enjoys more power than the absolute power wielded by the Internal Revenue Service. Its little wonder, then, that under this power-drunk Obama regime, the IRS has become corrupted absolutely. Its become the hammer to this presidents favorite nail: political dissent.
The bureaucratic cats out of the bag, and the evidence is undeniable. The Obama IRS has been illegally targeting conservative, Christian and Jewish groups and individuals for political retaliation, intimidation and, ultimately, destruction. These revelations have spurred calls for criminal prosecution and even impeachment. Still, little has been said about how to prevent such Stalinist abuses of power in the future.
Weve been over-thinking the problem. Sometimes complicated questions come with easy answers. ...

Shut down the IRS, layoff their tens-of-thousands of goons, and start all over.
Every U.S. citizen pays 7% (or maybe 5%) of whatever they grossed that year, no exceptions. Could be filled out on a post card.
Or have a flat out sales tax nationwide.
IRS should be staffed with independent contractors with no political ties.
I’m more partial to the talk of abolishing the IRS that is gaining momentum.
Yes, it is beyond repair. It has been totally corrupted by liberals. It must be completely destroyed. A flat tax cannot be used by one political party to attack another.
I dreamed last night that Sen Ted Cruz stated he was in favor of abolishing the IRS. Wouldn’t that be GREAT
Replacing income tax with ‘Fair’ sales tax would at least put Americans in charge of their own money.
The worst thing that can happen is a VAT. IMO
Who’s to say, maybe this was a setup to tear down
the IRS and convince the people that the VAT is the only way to go.
There are no scapegoats here as far as I can see. They all get promotions.
‘No one’ else is going to pay in this scandal.
They ALWAYS have to convince the little people that it’s ‘what the people want’ just like with the healthcare disaster.
He is right - the only problem would be corruption in the judiciary. His plan might eliminate many of the "nuisance audits" of small businesses and highly compensated employees, but the IRS could still find a compliant judiciary when they wanted to target bigger fish.
There should, however, be a large majority of Republicans calling right now for just such a limiting of IRS power by the Fourth Amendment. That there is not speaks volumes about just what today's Republican Party is, and who they really represent.
Replacing the income tax with a national sales tax would also fix this problem. A national sales also makes nearly everyone
a taxpayer instead of the current income tax structure under which only 50% pay taxes.
Turnabout is fair play of course!
After we have then their cash, we euthanize the IRS and set up a simple flat tax...........
I still want to see how many times Monica Lewinsky visited Bill in the Oval Office.
It’s quite possible that Shulman did not go there on official business, but just plain ol’ guy-to-guy hanky-panky.
If IRS is not to be abolished, here’s what I recommend:
1. No IRS employee can belong to a union.
2. Any communication to IRS or by IRS, except directly with a taxpayer, must be public, posted on the internet as soon as received or transmitted.
3. Take all the IRS employees who are working on Obamacare and put them in a new, separate and independent agency. Transfer the funds appropriated this year to IRS for those employees and their work to the new agency.
