You’re daft if you think urban living is what is keeping certain urban populations poor. Just take a look at their poor cousins, still in the Mississippi brush, who didn’t move to Northern cities for work.
I agree, statists want to herd us into cities and onto public transportation for control and resource management, but there is truth to creeping poverty in more suburbs—caused by the Obama economy.
I visited a friend in Morehead Kentucky, and almost bought land there (cheap), in 1995. The president of the bank there told me the average household income there was 16K at that time. By national standards, they were “poor”. I knew of people in Kalifornia on unemployment and welfare making more than that.
There was no grafiti in town, no gangs, no slums, and fairly low crime. (A little moonshine makin’ going on). One of the biggest lies told is that poverty is the cause of crime.
