New York City's Department of Consumer Affairs has given notice to 17 restaurants that offer sidewalk cafe dining: Stop the outdoor service.
Please be advised you have 100 business days from, and including May 1, to complete one of the following options, the agency, which operates under Mayor Michael Bloombergs administration, said in a statement, reported by The New York Post.
Option No. 1: Provide the city with a certified land survey to prove the cafe business is conducted on private property. Option No. 2: Filing for an exemption of zoning law. Or Option No. 3: Surrender the business permit and close up the outdoor shop, The Post reported.

Nanny State PING!
So he turned Times Square into a year-round outdoor cafe, but actual cafes can’t do this in the summer time?
And he’s supposedly a Republican
So when Weiner becomes mayor he will make an exception for hot dog stands?
Just saying...
LOL

Option two is the key; a thinly veiled fundraiser for the city, via filing fees. Also a boon for lawyers since whatever the individual owner files won’t be “correct”.
Dear administrator busybody: please document every single of your official actions in the last three (3) years and show that each one of them complies with every part of the Constitution.
No, Bloomberg is registered as an Independent. He may have run once on the Republican ticket which has more to do with convoluted election laws.
Most dangerous thing in NYC: Outdoor cafes serving Big Gulps.
Immigrating Muslims? No problem.
The RAT primary is always so loaded with candidates that there are always one or two of the RATs who "change" parties.
First, he's a RINO. Second, I live in the god-forsaken northeast, and there are very few conservatives. Democrats from red states are more conservative than the Republicans in the northeast. Like Lincoln Chaffe, my governor, Bloomberg IS a democrat hiding behind the GOP label.
Just in case you didn’t know, I caught a few minutes of MSNBC the other week telling me the front runner to replace Bloomberg is a woman named Christine Quinn, the Speaker of City Council.
She is an out in the open lesbian and so I leave it to you to consider her position on “hot dog stands”.
I seem to remember him switching parties when he ran for mayor because Rudy was so popular in NYC and he wanted to give the illusion that he was another Rudy.
I've been to NYC a few times, and I've eaten all over town. The best meals I've ever had were from sidewalk cafes and street vendors. The best knish I ever had-and I've had plenty-came out of a vendor's cart along a street in the shadow of the late, lamented WTC. It cost $2. I liked it so much I went back and bought two more. I've not met its equal, even in $$$$ gourmet bistros for ten times the price.
Did I mention that Bloomberg is an ass?
He hasn’t been a Republican for a while.
Will Weiner become Mayor, do not thinks so!
This guy’s sole goal is to get into absolutely everyone’s business and tell them EXACTLY how they must live. F***ing mack-insane control freak. He’d fit right in to the Nazi party about 7 decades ago.
Indeed.
