Henry Morgentaler, the family doctor who led the abortion movement in Canada, died of a heart attack at his Toronto home early Wednesday. He was 90.
Dr. Morgentaler, who was the focus of both reverence and hatred, was one of the key players in the 1988 Supreme Court of Canada ruling that declared the law prohibiting abortion unconstitutional. He is survived by his wife, Arlene, four children, several grandchildren and his extended family. Funeral arrangements are private. Dr. Morgentaler had a complex relationship with women all his life. As a child, he felt his mother didnt love him as much as his younger brother; as a doctor, he performed thousands of safe, but illegal, abortions on desperate women with unwanted pregnancies; as a social and political activist, he worked to repeal Canadas draconian abortion law in order to give women control over their reproductive lives; as a medical administrator, he opened eight clinics across the country to try to give women equality of access to abortions; and, as a man, he was a consummate philanderer who married three times and conducted many extramarital affairs. He was a man who loved women and couldnt be monogamous, Catherine Dunphy wrote in her 1998 book, Morgentaler: A Difficult Hero.
My whole life, he told The Globe and Mail in 2003, I have been looking for the mother-love that I missed. That explains my many relationships with women. Deep down, with me, I was afraid they would leave me, or stop loving me. It was a psychological strategy to make sure there would always be a woman who loves me. He died with the woman who loved him, his third wife, Arlene Leibovitz, by his side, as she had been for nearly 30 years.

Even more than Pierre Trudeau?
that was convenient... screw around and get rid of any “unintended consequences”.
Then like a nice little socio-path, blame mommy for not loving me. Pathetic little wretches, these heroes of the left.
They wouldn’t know honor if it stood him up against a wall and banged him all night.
God aborted him. Good riddance.

Hey! FReepers!
Help Fill The Tank!
How About It? Huh?
It Ain't Askin' Too Much
Ya Know....
Yes, he killed 100k Canadians on his own.
Only 45k Canadians died in the second world war. The most in any war.
Also, rot in Hell Morgentaler.
Bury him next to Harry Blackmun. The site would make an excellent urinal.
Adulterer? I’m so not surprised.
The babies he killed really missed out on mother love. I think he hated women.
Old Scratch has got his own at last.
lol! Just took a little longer than he’d have advocated
I have a feeling that his meeting with his Maker didn’t go very well for him.
Morgentaler: ‘My whole life has been devoted to doing things to get me the love of women’
Too bad he was looking for the love of women in all the wrong places - Our Mother loved him, but he never acknowledged her, for he was a militant ath...eist. It seems to me, many times over as I read about atheist Jews that survived the Holocaust, they would realize just how evil atheism is. Considering it was, exactly, that same atheism that killed so many of their family and friends at the concentration camps.
But, no, these same atheistic Jews refuse to see the truth of what occurred under atheistic rule as being evil. It seems they just believe they were fortunate to have been spared and that’s all. Like this man’s mother was killed at Auschwitz, but, yet he fought all his adult life to be able to kill thousands upon thousands of innocent defenseless people himself...by his own hands and also by his actions of militancy for others to be able to do the same throughout Canada and the world.
These atheist Jews seem to have no real understanding of the evil that occurred and deny the truth of what fomented that evil - atheism. It is either that, or they do really understand and insit on recreating that evil the world over, which is kind of what this man single-handedly did in Canada and what many of the same atheistic Jews are practicing in the USA.
Well...dead at 90, this man has now experienced his Particular Judgement and his separated soul is in one of three experiences - beatific vision of the Godhead, Purgatory or eternal punishment. Which one, we do not know...nor should we pretend to know. In two of the three, our prayers for their souls are unnecessary. But it is that one chance that he may, by the Grace of God, by the sheer whim/pleasure of God, be in Purgatory.
