'A man has been charged with the murder of soldier Lee Rigby in south-east London, police have said.
Michael Adebowale will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.
He was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and has been held in custody at a south London police station.
Drummer Rigby was stabbed to death in a street attack in Woolwich on Wednesday last week. A second suspect, Michael Adebolajo, remains in hospital.
Sue Hemming, head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter-terrorism Division, said: "Crown Prosecutors have been working with the investigators of Counter Terrorism Command since the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby on 22 May.
"Following the release of Michael Adebowale from hospital, we have authorised the police to charge him with the murder of Drummer Rigby.
"We have also authorised police to charge him with possession of a firearm, contrary to section 16A of the Firearms Act 1968.
"There is sufficient evidence to prosecute Michael Adebowale and it is in the public interest to do so. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Thursday 30 May."'

He and his jihadi buddy will be back on the street in less than 5 years.
stabbed to death
****
Stabbed? Why don’t they try hacked to pieces and beheaded! These morons are just as bad as the ones here. Don’t call it what it is, use something else. And thanks to their Firearms Act, Rigby didn’t have a chance to defend himself.
The democrats idea of dealing with muslim terrorists is going to get more of us killed.
He should be dead already.
Maybe he can do community service at the local mosque?
A man?
That’s the Beeb for you. They’re like MSNBC here. Any possible way they can defend Islamo Nazism they will take it.
No, these men will get life.
I thought the previous posts on FR about them getting light sentences were sarcasm. Now, with horror, I think many Americans seriously think they will. I know the UK sentencing can leave something things to be desired sometimes (although light UK sentences are a bit of a myth), but we arent THAT bad.
I sure hope the Brits give him the FULL 5 YEARS for such a horrible act. That will finally show some backbone, even if he gets out in 2.5 years on good behavior.
(slight exaggeration, but that’s about where British justice now stands)
I doubt these two will ever see the light of day again. The sole surviving Iranian terrorist of the ‘81 embassy siege ended up serving 28 years of a life sentence, and he was not directly responsible for either of the two hostage’s deaths.
I suspect they will continue to act like arrogant, defiant terrorist a55holes whilst in prison too, precluding any reason to release them on parole for good behaviour or for not continuing to pose a threat to the public.
Would be nice to think they served a considerable amount of their time in prison locked up in the cooler reflecting on the consequences of their actions.
Well, yes - some of those comments are sarcasm. As for the life sentences, I hope you are correct. Are there, perchance, some "skinhead" gangs within the UK prison system? I'd like to think that these animals might be entitled to "early release" (for purposes of interment).
>And thanks to their Firearms Act, Rigby didnt have a chance to defend himself.<
.
And neither were any bystanders able to come to Rigby’s rescue.
These muslims could’ve grabbed more people off the street and slaughter them just like a bunch of sheep and nobody would have complained.
I agree, good point about the 1980 Embassy prisoner.
I think these two will get 35-40 yrs, maybe even a full life tariff and be numbers 55 and 56. ‘Lesser’ serious Islamic terrorists since 2001 here have got 25-30 yrs, a couple 30-40.
The myth that, when it comes to sentencing, British courts are soft on Muslim criminals is difficult to square with the fact that the percentage of Muslims in British jails is four time greater than the percentage of Muslims in the general population.
