I don’t know about other states but California’s “Green” Public Utilities Commission is in lock-step with the power companies (and the administration) to ration electric power. No matter how little you use they keep raising rates to make sure utilities pocket big profits (with the PUC’s blessings, of course).

Southern Calif. Edison allows you to opt out of the Big Brother meters — for an additional $30 a month on your bill! BB meter installation is coupled with a big publicity campaign for “free” government money to subsidize solar panel installations. It’s not like we’re being herded into a taxpayer paid “Green” corral or anything like that...is it?

” No matter how little you use they keep raising rates to make sure utilities pocket big profits (with the PUC’s blessings, of course).”

They also raise rates so they can subsidize the solar panels on a lot of wealthy peoples homes. It’s big stuff to brag about all you are doing to save the environment at elitist cocktail parties. Don’t talk about the average ratepayer shelling out dough to make it affordable though. Without the subsidies very few would be installed.

‘_______opt out of Big Brother meters.’

Here in So. Calif, we also opted out, and have to pay monthly for that ‘privilege.’
For all these 44 years, the original meter is just a few feet from the head of our bed - - - z~a~p!
That’s the only way the bed fits in the room.

I have seen reports that installation of a smart meter is immediately followed in many or most cases by a large increase in electric bills.
