Afghan Benghazi: Extortion 17, Betraying Seal Team 6

War On Terror: As in Benghazi, we still don't know the full story of the greatest single loss in Afghanistan and the largest SEAL loss ever — members of a renowned group outed by a loose-lipped vice president.

It's not officially on the growing list of Obama administration scandals, but earlier this month families of Navy SEAL Team 6 members killed in a disastrous August 2011 shoot-down of a Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan gathered at the National Press Club asking for answers, calling for a congressional investigation and blaming their government for the tragedy, the indifference and the secrecy that followed.

Extortion 17 was the call sign of a special operations mission in Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011, that responded to an Army Ranger unit engaged in a firefight with the Taliban and in need of backup.

The Chinook helicopter carrying the rescue team was shot down by a Taliban-owned rocket-propelled grenade over the Wardak Province on Aug. 6, 2011, killing 38, including 30 Americans and 15 members of Navy SEAL Team 6, the unit that killed Osama bin Laden just three months prior.

The shoot-down was described at the time as a "lucky shot," but the families of the dead SEALs believe that, like Benghazi, it was a pre-planned operation of revenge facilitated by a government that put them in harm's way without adequate support and with a bull's-eye painted on their backs.

At a Pentagon briefing on Monday, May 2, 2011, a senior defense official was asked if it was a Navy SEAL team that found and killed the world's most wanted man. The terse and proper response was: "Not going to comment on units or numbers."

I would not put anything past Obama but it seems that it would be a difficult thing to pull off.

The only thing which seems odd to me is that so many high value soldiers were on a single helicopter. I will admit tho that I know very little about combat tactics.

Let us not forget those Law Enforcement officers who "Mysteriously" died in that "training accident" that was involved with the Boston Bombing Suspects.

I should add that I wondered why so many elite troops would be on a single helicopter for what appears to have been only a moderately high priority mission.

I could understand it if they were maybe after all the main leaders of Al Qaeda.

They keep calling it a Chinook helicopter instead of an “Army” helicopter, and I thought the Rangers had made a decisive victory and only needed a blocking element to harass the enemy farther as they fled, not a “rescue”.

It is amazing that the 23 people, mostly special ops who weren’t SEALs, get such short shrift, and it is funny that no one is interested in the Army Special Ops men who were involved in the Bin laden raid.

If I had a plan against the SEALs, this hardly seems to be the one I would plan and expect it to happen.

BINGO!..ST-6 Doesn't do “regular back up missions”...We have “Regular soldiers” trained to do that....Lots of ‘em!!!!!...its like sending in a B-52 to take out a sniper...It don't happen!

A father of one of the SEAL Team 6 who had been murdered (IMHO), during their presser, was asked if he had gotten any interest from congresscritters—he said only Rubio.

But, then he said Rubio was going to talk to McCain about it, at which point the father of the SEAL said “thanks, but no thanks. We’ll try to do it ourselves.”

An indictment against McCain AND Rubio, for who he chooses to align himself with.

Rubio the RINO.

Ace Lyons (retired Admiral of the Pacific Fleet and a military analyst and strategist) was interviewed after the presser and said that the Moslem Brotherhood had infiltrated every government agency and that this had only ACCELERATED under the (Benghazi Barry-my words) administration.
