SANFORD, Fla. Attorneys on both sides in the George Zimmerman trial will be in court Tuesday morning, arguing over evidence that includes 911 calls and text messages from Trayvon Martin's cellphone.
WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer does not expect the defense to get its requested six-week delay, but does expect Zimmerman's lawyers to win some of its battles in court Tuesday.
The state does not want the jury to hear about Martin's texts in the days leading up to his shooting death.
According to documents, in the texts, Martin talks about fighting, how his mother kicked him out of the house, about drugs and about buying a gun. He also exchanged angry words with his girlfriend, who was on the phone with him moments before the shooting.
The state said the texts were not relevant, but the defense said they show that Martin was an aggressive and angry teenager the night he and Zimmerman got into the deadly confrontation and it supports their argument that Martin was the aggressor.
The defense will also ask the judge to impose sanctions on prosecutors for allegedly withholding the text evidence from the defense for four months.
Both sides will also argue whether the defense gets to challenge the state's speech recognition experts, who said it was Martin who was calling for help in the background of one of the 911 calls.....

Your obsessions are pulling you to it.
The 911 was careful not to order him to stand down. Surely you understand English. If not, tell me what language you do understand and I’ll put it through Google Translate for you!
If I was the judge, I would ONLY allow the text that were sent the day that Trayvon was shot and killed. The others do not matter.

Well, I guess if you were to be the judge in the future Boston Bomber trial you’d exclude all emails & Texts prior to the day of the Marathon bombing.
I guess that makes some kind of sense—to someone, according to some kind of logic, but not to me.
This is a real mans life,
So was Trayvon’s which you seem to think does not matter. I feel for both of them. Like I said they were both idiots. Zimmerman was a power hungry guy who could not become a cop even though he tried (for whatever reason he was denied). The 911 operator told him to leave the scene and he didn’t. Trayvon should have just ignored Zimmerman’s following and went to his destination. Both would be alive and well today had the two of them weren’t so stubborn.
You’re being serious about this, that’s your problem. Don’t you know this is just a big entertainment??? Judge Judy has to go to the bathroom soon. Get with the program!
The 911 was careful not to order him to stand down.
The 911 operator told him to let the police deal with the situation. That is all the English I need to understand that he should have minded his own dang business.
Zim stood there and looked; Tray fueled with paranoia and probable drugs flew off the handle. I think I see the aggressor here and it ain’t Zim. Also this ain’t Your Royal Entertainment. I don’t care if the media turns it into 10 OJs. That’s media’s problem not mine.
They said police would deal with it. They did not put the rhetorical fillip you claim in (to “let them deal with it” like he could stop them).
>> “I suppose the state has a responsibility to argue against weapons of the defense” <<
.
No such “responsibility” exists; that is why we have grand juries.
Well neither of us is on the jury. Zimmerman will be found guilty of manslaughter. You can come back after the trial and see how I did with my hypothesis.
Also not everyone just lays down and hits snooze when the cops are supposedly on the way. Most Freepers don’t. Zim, oh naughty Zim, he stood there and looked! What shall we do about this horrible temptation to Saint Tray?
lol. We will see.....the jury will decide.
If they do, then Hell, not justice, will have won the case.
Hard to imagine attorneys battling in court over evidence (or anything else). That’s really newsworthy.
You seem to be cheering for jackboot spirit and for hell.
“....The 911 operator told him to leave the scene and he didnt.....”

You’ve repeated this lie a number of times. You are ignorant (in the “good” sense of not having a clue as to what you are “quoting” as gospel) of what happened that night and are simply repeating some things you may have read in the DU.
Gee, I have an idea...do a simple little search and read the actual transcript of what the 911 operator told George Zimmerman. Perhaps that will be too difficult or taxing for you? Hint: start by going to google.com or bing.com and do a minimum amount of “work”.
Napster spent all her time on frothy media.
That was weird, a grand juryless thing. How’d that ever pass muster?
You are obviously ignorant of MANY material facts. 1) if you listen to the full 9/11 tape [not the bastardized tape which tried to paint Zimmerman as a racist] George was INDEED headed back to his vehicle, having said “okay” to the suggestion that he did not need to keep trying to follow Trayvon. 2) Evidence supports this they made contact with each other close to George’s vehicle. Saint Trayvon was the one who came up and initiated contact, thinking he had an easy victim for the “knockout game.” How wrong he was. As soon as he decided it would be fun to keep slamming George’s head into the sidewalk, all bets were off. The gang banger wanna be miscalculated this time. Too bad, so sad for him.
Most of this should have been pretty obvious from the first. Jackboot Lickers think that if it went to a trial then there had to be some valid suspicion, but it’s clear the racist trump-up that went into goading this into court at all.
