This Memorial Day I will remember my father who though seriously wounded in WWII nevertheless came home alive. His physical wounds never fully healed and his emotional wounds haunted him for the remainder of his life. Yet he persevered as a husband, father, successful attorney, church and community leader.

He died 15 years ago. God rest his soul.

I hope someone will start a separate thread of Memorial Day Remembrances or something so we can honor the memories and sacrifices of folks like your dad. My WWII vet dad is still alive - 90 in December. He was a medical technician, patching up the wounded from from the Pacific theater as they were transported to Hawaii, primarily on ships. He’s always talked in general terms about those days, but recently, he’s been more willing to talk in more detail about what the staff there was dealing with .... very interesting and quite amazing since back then, medicine was no where near as advanced as it is today.

God rest all the souls of those who sacrificed so much for their children, their country, and future generations.
