Several of us here were warning folks that Angle was a bad candidate. She had already blown two races before getting the Senate nomination and was already prone to making strange comments and unproven allegations (she accused Dean Heller of voter fraud, which almost cost us a safe House seat). “Nut” is not too harsh a word, and sore loser (after her 2006 loss to Heller) is another. She was just about the only GOP candidate in NV who could lose to the unpopular Reid. A ficus plant could’ve beaten Reid, yet Angle blew it.
Ken Buck in CO also blew a winnable race against a far-left seat warmer non-entity. We can’t nominate candidates like these and hope to win.
As for Akin, he is a good man, had an excellent voting record, but he broke the Clayton Williams rule of never joking or talking about rape. No matter what you say, it’s going to get you in trouble and no good will come of it. Mourdock fell down the rabbit hole with Akin on that same rule. If you get asked a media gotcha question about abortion and how it relates to rape, you say you’re pro-life and you leave it at that.
Look at how the media unfairly demonized Sarah Palin
Who hasn't made a mistake or said something stupid? The news media will take any mistake and put that out there for all to see. When there isn't a gaffe the media will create one as with the Rubio taking a drink of water “gaffe” .
