We bought a foreclosed house on an acre in a good area for a great price. The previous a-hole owner used to live here but moved and rented it out to various section 8 people, just to tick off his former neighbors. The house stunk like a kennel due to one room they used as — a kennel! Dog and cat crap all over.
Anyway, for several years we worried about unwanted visitors in the middle of the night, since some of the former residents were in the amateur pharmaceutical business. A number of years in and we have had no problems.
First line of defense is our dog alarm that can hear a flea fart a quarter mile away during a thunderstorm. Second line of defense? Thanks for asking. Details not currently available.
In my first year here I was in a similar situation, the killers were never caught and one of the best theories was that it was the Hell’s Angels who did it, I had hoped that the killers followed the news so that they would know that they had succeeded, but I did take precautions for the first year.
Although I didn’t know the previous owner of this place, I was a frequenter of our local Hell’s Angels bar, but of course I never heard anything about this case. Once a few guys stopped by and while not getting out of the car, they asked what I felt were some strange questions, I figured that if they had been involved, that they were well aware that I lived here now, and I backed off the security from then on.
