Maryland County Passes ‘Second Amendment Preservation Resolution’

On the evening of May 22, 2013, the Board of Commissioners of Carroll County presented, debated and adopted a resolution known as the “Second Amendment Preservation Resolution”. This resolution, among other things, declared Carroll County as a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County”.

County officials, including the Board of County Commissioners, the States Attorney and the Sheriff deemed this action necessary in light of the recent enactment by the Maryland General Assembly of “pretended legislation” known as the Maryland Firearms Safety Act of 2013.

The Resolution declares that the so called “Safety Act”, which purports to ban the sale of forty-five types of ordinary rifles and magazines that could contribute to the common defense; and requires law abiding citizens to submit to licensing fees, background checks, fingerprinting, and renewal fees, clearly violates the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution along with Article 2 of the Maryland Declaration of Rights.

And the Resolution further declares that the unconstitutional provisions of the act will not be enforced in Carroll County.

The public meeting was attended by more than 200 enthusiastic supporters of the Resolution who expressed their appreciation that their local officials were taking a bold stand to protect the liberties of their constituents.

If you love and want to live liberty, you might strongly consider urging your county council, your county executive, your sheriff and your police chief to join with Carroll County officials and adopt and support similar resolutions.

You can download the resolution here.

It’s time to be bold.

If we want to live in “land of the free”, our land must also be the “home of the brave”.

Ah, home sweet home! Not all of Maryland is liberal hell.

I cancelled the local fishwrap, but I guarantee that they are having a cow over this.

Won’t be long before they will have to pass a resolution to preserve the first Amendment as well.

Counties in upstate NY should do the same. Further, freedom-loving counties in democrat-controlled states everywhere should do the same. California would be an especially great place to do this. Much of the Valley and rural regions of California are quite conservative. This is a form of nullification, just that it is at the county level.

It’s good to see some people still care about the Bill of Rights in Maryland.

55 sheriffs in coommierado filed a lawsuit against chickenpooper’s signing of unconstitutional, deliberately vague, and unenforceable people control laws.

Wonder if Carroll County would consider enlisting associate Sheriff’s deputies which would then provide a good, substantial reson for Marylanders to carry?
Would expect training and background check to be required along with appropriate fee.
