This is awful. My middle son earned his Eagle last night. We’ve given the youngest a year to get his. We’d like it to still mean something. This will ruin scouting and the first openly gay young man to come into our troop, my boys will leave. Everyone at our troop on all levels was opposed to this. I don’t know how they got 60% of the vote. I cannot understand how any parent would want their child exposed to this. I’m so upset about this.

The thing is, most scouts join when they're about eleven years old. That's when I joined over 50 years ago. At that age, virtually no boy knows anything about sex. At least in my time we didn't. Why would an eleven-year old boy announce that he is a homosexual? There's absolutely no reason for anyone when entering the Scouts to announce their sexuality at that age or any age.
